The body shook. The limbs actually trembled and glistened with the slick sheen of a cold sweet when the blue eyes snapped open. There was no scream this time. A head of messy brown hair shifted across the pillow as his head turned to look at the sleeping girl beside him.
Jayni was dressed in a thin T-Shirt and had the upper blanket over one bare thigh. Her short brown hair was now highlighted in red and she looked so peaceful. Brody gently pulled the sheet back and pushed the blanket and sheet off him. As usual he wore a pair of shorts, even to sleep. To avoid any temptation to the body of the young woman with him. She was, after all, beautiful.
Brody moved to the table near the door and uncapped the brown liquor bottle and lifted it for a deep drink. After the bottle was set back down, it was half empty. Three large swallows was all it took. Once the bottle was down each hand swiped objects off the counter and then out onto the balcony he went.
A half empty pack of cigarettes was laid on the railing as he lit one and exhaled through his nose. His eyes seemed to be staring off into space as he opened the cell phone with his other hand. With the smoke hanging from his lip Brody looks down as he types.
“You awake?”
The caller had no name, but the camera watched the steam rising off the half naked form of the Lost One. It didn't take more then a few moments for the phone to vibrate and light up. Brody looks down and reads the words.
“I am now. What's up?”
The phone was then closed very gently as he inhaled deeply and stared at the lights of the city on the horizon. Brody said nothing as he tapped his fingers off the railing and continued to smoke the cigarette in silence, his mind going over the dream he had just experienced. He knew somewhere deep inside that all of this was trying to tell him something. Something important, but for the life of him he couldn't figure it out.
Again the phone buzzed and Brody flipped it open and glances down to read.
“Brody? Everything alright?”
Again Brody flipped the phone closed. There was no real reason why he would have reached out at four A.M. Something simply told him he wanted to be sure she was okay. She answered, therefor, she was okay. But he needed space. He couldn't let this end up falling to her. Not after everything else.
As Brody sat and watched the distance in silence the little counter in the corner began to tick away faster and faster until it rolled through the minutes and Brody didn't seem to move. Four A.M. Became ten and Brody hadn't so much as shifted. Moving only to put out and light smokes. Opening and closing his phone. It wasn't until Jayni stirred and got up that the counter slowed down. When she got up and threw on a pair of loose fitting short shorts she came out to the balcony.
Her hair was a mess and she wore no make-up, but she leaned on the railing and looked over at the half naked and freezing man with concern.
Jayni: “Your turning blue Brody.”
Brody: “......”
Jayni: “How long can you go on like this Brody? Before you die.”
Brody: “......”
Jayni: “Brody god dammit talk to me!”
Brody: “.....I went into the hospital last night.”
Jayni: “What do you mean, your half naked and frozen, you've been out her.....”
Jayni's eyes then suddenly widened and she bit her lip.
Jayni: “....The Nightmares....”
Brody: “...Yes.”
Jayni: “And? What happens next? After...I turn you evil?”
Brody: “....i hunt them. They tend to their wounds....i see ghosts....or hallucinations. Of Melissa and others.”
Jayni: “Melissa? Like Jeszika's Melissa?”
Brody: “....Yea....she was a nurse. Slutty one. Held me down and grinded on me.”
Jayni: “.....Creepy.”
Brody: “....And then I strangled Ashley to death.....”
Jayni: “....you killed Ashley?”
Brody: “Yes.....”
Jayni reached out and touched Brody's arm and immediately withdrew her hand with wide eyes.
Jayni: “Brody god damnit your ice cold! Get your ass in here!
Brody: “....”
Jayni: “NOW!”
Brody took one final drag from the smoke and then tossed it over the railing and turned to walk inside. As he walked passed Jayni reached up and smacked him on the back of the head hard and followed leaving the camera outside to die.
Jayni: “Idiot.”

Lula Davidson: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am here with Broderick Montgomery and Jayni Sullivan....and I don't know why.....”
Jayni: “Because we figured you would have questions. You have seen it all. Experienced it all.”
Lula Davidson: “But I am not interviewer....”
Brody: “All the better.”
Brody was sitting between the two woman and leaning back on the couch with Lula in a chair to his left and Jayni in one to his right. His hood was up and his face looked bruised and battered. He looked so weary and half dead.
Lula Davidson: “....Fine. I suppose I do have some. Why didn't you go after Logan? Or go to comfort Aerynn about her father? You are just as guilty of creating this monster as anyone else.”
Brody: “You don't think I know that?”
Brody looked disgusted and more then a little feral now.
Brody: “I could have done more. For all of them. I didn't go after Logan because he was wrong for the little gash. He was bound to bail on her as he has everyone else in his life.”
Lula Davidson: “And her father?”
Jayni: “.....Next question.”
Lula Davidson: “No, people have a right to know!”
Brody: “....who says I didn't?”
Jayni: “Now move on. That's his business.”
Lula Davidson: “Fine. Everyone has been commenting on how you seem.....so unstable since you have come back. Headaches. Nightmares....maybe hallucinations?”
Brody: “I am not crazy Lula.”
Lula Davidson: “You insist on competing even though your still not a hundred percent. Miss Sullivan tells me you stand outside in the cold for hours until your body temp is dangerously low. Sounds like you have a death wish.”
Brody: “If you have seen the things I have seen, you would have one as well Lula Davidson”
Lula Davidson: “So your admitting you do? And should be getting medical attention?”
Brody: “Not everyone who views the world the way I do needs to be put away Lula. Sometimes they are best left to their own devices.”
Jayni: “Now....about Craven....”
The look that Jayni have the blond Lula was one of irritation and annoyance. Telling the woman to get off this train of thought quickly. Lula made a face but nodded.
Lula Davidson: “Make. It. Stop. Three words. What do you think?”
Brody: “Weak.”
Lula Davidson: “Excuse me?”
Brody: “....Not that I am calling Craven weak....but it's a weak mantra. Make it stop. Why? Begging does no good. Asking for someone to stop....will never get them to stop. The only way to make it stop.....is to MAKE it stop.”
Lula Davidson: “That wasn't what he was saying Brody.”
Brody: “Wasn't it?”
Lula Davidson: “.....maybe partly, but a larger part of it was that you fight against it. For yourself and more importantly for others. “
Brody: “It's not about fighting against it. It's about revenge. On Joshua. On Aerynn. On that manipulative slut Maiko. It's about payback. It's about making sure to break the hand that wields the knife. What good is it to stop the knife...if the hand can just pick up another.”
Jayni: “But you break the hand.....”
Brody: “...And it cannot pick up a knife to stab you when your back is turned.”
Lula Davidson: “What do you think about what he said about you specificly? The anxiety and Anguish and hate and pain?”
Brody: “....He's wrong.”
Jayni: “Is he Brody?”
Brody: “Yes.”
Brody's voice dropped to the faintest little whisper and he said softly.
Brody: “....i wish I could feel anguish or pain....i feel nothing.”
Lula Davidson: “Nothing at all?”
Brody: “....just the nightmares.”

The camera immediately shifted from the three of them to a single shot of Lula Davidson standing in a empty production room with her hands folded behind her back.
Lula Davidson: “Ladies and gentlemen, I was asked to do a interview with Broderick Montgomery and I walked into it feeling very angry about the things that have happened.....that our children were being exposed to this sort of this. That there wasn't more being done about it, but i said nothing as i watched the numbers go up and heard the fans cheer and therein lies the problem.
The more he talked and the more they cheered the more i shifted away from being angry and i became....sadder by the moment. Sadden by the lack of regard and humanity that is being shown. The more we talked, Even after the camera was turned off. I am no longer angry, I am sad.
You see it's a sad testimony that fans all over the world watch this and cheer. Good verse evil. All of that, but in the end it's truly about a man who has lost everything. Who has no reason left to live. And I fear if he loses much more.....it will mean the end of him. And the further down that path he does....we go from watching entertainment....to watching a snuff film....while the world cheers.
Thank you for your time.....and see you at Mayhem.”
