The smell of alcohol permeated the air of a bar in downtown Toronto. It is this particular bar, the Lonesome Road, where Lacey, at 2:30 in the morning, was wiping down a few of the tables.
Why was she working at this particular bar? It was a part time job for her when she was back in Toronto. She smirked, as a couple of fights nearly broke out, and she knew those particular fights were over her.
But as for the real reason why she worked there, it was because it was owned by her father, Randy Roberts. He walked out from behind that bar, and approached his only daughter.
Randy: Hey. Want to take a smoke break with me?
Lacey: Sure.
Lacey followed Randy to the kitchen, where she handed off her cleaning supplies to one of the other bartenders, before grabbing her jacket. She followed Randy outside, as she got a cigarette out for herself. Randy lit it up for her, and lit one up for himself.
Randy: It's funny you know. Just...ten to fifteen years ago, you'd say these are bad for my health. Now look at you.
Lacey: I know dad. Almost hypocritical of me, but almost everyone caves.
Randy: I know. Anyways, you did a good job tonight, though it would seem that a few of our customers were starting to get a little frisky with you.
Lacey: I don't mind it.
Randy: Well I do Lacey. I don't want to have to keep throwing out some customers because my daughter just so happens to make them hot and bothered!
Lacey: Well I can't fucken help it if people want me. You and I both know however, unless I'm bored, they can't have me.
Randy: That's right, and that's going to stay that way until you're married.
Lacey: Dad seriously? That shit again? I highly doubt I will. Such a thing is irrelevant to me.
Randy: I am serious.
Lacey: You know dad, it's this kind of thought that really makes me want to punch you the fuck out. Do you really believe I'm still physically pure?
Randy sighed. He didn't want to admit it, but his daughter was grown up now. He also knew Lacey wasn't lying either. Usually she would have said she's just not interested in that stuff.
Randy: Forgive an old man Lacey. I can't help but have an old school way of thinking. Want to keep things in a simpler time, even though I know that this day and age, they're useless.
Lacey: You're right, they are.
Randy: I know. Regardless though, at least you're not a slut.
Lacey: No. But I can be if you keep pissing me off.
That last statement made Randy drop his cigarette for a second. He quickly picked it up, and then the both of them took a puff each from their cigarettes. After a second, he began to chuckle.
Randy: Well Let's hope I don't find the guy. I don't know what happened, nor do I care. Fact it happened, is enough to cause me to kill.
Lacey: And if i decide to stop you?
Randy; Then I'd push you aside. Simple as that.
Lacey's eye then began to twitch. She glared at Randy, before sucker punching him. He stumbled a slight bit, but didn't drop his cigarette this time. In fact, he chuckled some more, and even clapped his hands.
Randy: Lacey my child, you never cease to amaze me. Standing up to me just now, that's good. Hell, even before what happened ten years ago, you always were an independent one, and for that, I am proud of you.
Lacey: Thanks dad. Though you do say that a fair bit.
Randy: I like to admit the truth. All my children are something to be proud of, even if the embers of hell do flow through their veins.
Lacey began to chuckle at that. It was due to what her brother had earned when he was an active wrestler, that Randy was referencing to. Lacey then took another puff of her cigarette, before looking up at the night sky.
Randy: Well, I did see what you did at Fearless with Zing, much like the rest of the bar. Needless to say, it got quite the response.
Lacey: Of course it did. But really, I could care less about that dad. I just want to be the one who actually brings something to a championship that is otherwise worthless.
Randy: Oh?
Lacey: Oh yeah. The current champion, Amy Zing...what has she done to establish herself? Scrape by to win a low card title? Pathetic. Happy with just that...it's sickening. She knows I'm a threat to. I beat her ass into the ground once, and I'll do it again, and I don't care how many people I have to swat away to do so. Or even piss off for that matter.
Randy: Well you don't have to go and be that extreme.
Lacey: Not how I see it. Sometimes I wonder if you've gone soft on us. If you have, you know that you shouldn't be, as it will bite you in the ass.
Randy: I know. But...I'm not the young guy I once was. I'm fifty, and I ain't getting younger. Though rest assured, I'm still maintaining my strength and skills.
Lacey: Good to know.
After that, the both of them butted out their cigarettes, and resumed cleaning up the bar. It would take about one hour to finish everything up. That was followed with Randy dropping Lacey off at her apartment. She stripped out of her clothes, and put on a white button up t shirt on with just her panties still on. However, she couldn't seem to feel tired. She grabbed a beer, and cracked it open, taking a big swig of the alcohol beverage.
Lacey: Well...since I'm still up, might as well tell the UWA how it's going to be.
Lacey smirked. She walked to her room, grabbed her laptop, before returning to her kitchen, and firing up her laptop. After a couple minutes, she began to record.
Lacey: You know, some people say that in order to succeed, you have to make your own opportunities. That's actually a statement I can agree with to a certain extent. For you see UWA, I came to a realization over these past few weeks. As much as I feel as if I deserve anything I want, nothing was being done, and well, I'm not exactly a patient person, now am I?
So instead of waiting around, I'm simply going to take. And I've made my first target of what I want. Amy Zing, and her title.
Now I get, that I'm not the only one who's doing this sort of action. You know, trying to make their opportunities. But the main person who was trying to do that went about it the wrong way. Or did he really? He got somebody's attention, even if it was the wrong person. Unlike me, this dolt, that calls himself Kyle Travis...He's let past success get to his head, and well, that means nothing unless all the success was in the place you are now, and guess what, it ain't.
Lacey chuckled to herself, before taking another swig of her beer. It was amusing to her to find somebody who's more fixated on the past then her dad was. At least with Randy, he chose to use his experience to help the next generation, and not make it seem like it was the only thing that mattered.
Lacey: But back to the matter at hand. Zing has something I want. Something that management decided to put her in a match for, and she won. I'll give her that, she was against rough odds, and she went out there, and became the first TV champion. But has she defended it? If she has, I must have fallen asleep and forgot about them.
But it's her bubbly personality that irritates me. For now, she has every reason to be happy, but why stop with one title. But you know, as irritating as her happy-go-lucky personality is, it's also a reason for me to take interest in her. Well, namely because somebody has to show her that reality is nothing like she thinks it is. But why stop at just waking her up. No...I want to break her. Subject her to my every whim, every desire, and ultimately, own her very existence.
Nobody's going to stop me from fulfilling my desires.
Lacey then began to show a twisted smile, as she was thinking of many ways she could humiliate and defeat Amy Zing. It made her excited. Before she continued, she took another swig of her beer.
Lacey: But I think that I should at the very least, give some insight about what Zing will be going against. And this insight, or example, will be shown on Mayhem, when I have my next match, of course. Because as I'm sure you all know, I'm up against a new person in UWA, called Shonn Maguire. A man who calls himself 'Malleus Diabolus'. And for what, he hurt some douche in a fight pretty bad, along with being part of those underground rings, before that he got his pathetic ass incarcerated, and now think he's a badass? If it weren't for the fact that most people believe that their badasses over the littlest things, I'd laugh. But it's one of those millions of stories I've heard that just piss me off!
Lacey's eye began to twitch for just a second, before she pondered something. She took another swig of her beer, and shrugged her shoulders.
Lacey: Eh what the hell I'll laugh anyways.
Lacey then began to laugh. This laugh wasn't out of humor, but one that showed her underlying insanity. After a few seconds though, she stopped, before looking directly back at the screen.
Lacey: But seriously Shonn. How dare you, develop any kind of hell related nickname, over those little things. Yeah you might just be a bit tougher then some people, but you'll need a massive brain flossing if you think for one second, you've earned the right to call yourself a demon.
You're probably thinking though, 'what have I done'? You're right, at this moment, I haven't done much. To be honest, I could care less if you think I don't have the fucken right. Far as I'm concerned, you're just another worthless fleshbag in my way towards all my goals.
But there is something I must warn you about. Don't think you're hot shit just because you're friends with a couple people in UWA, namely that of Pauly or the former champ, Aerynn. You won't be using them to get the spotlight.
Lacey began to chuckle again, before she finished up her beer. She put her empty bottle down, and once again began to ponder something.
Lacey: However, if I am proven wrong about you, then so be it. If you can prove your success, maybe you might have my attention. Well, at least in a good way for you. Unlike Zing, who's only keeping something for me warm essentially. For you see, if you do get my full attention outside of a match, well then I might let you keep your so called nickname.
Now I don't want to hear any crap about how hard of a life you've had, because really, I don't give a fuck about any of your past. I've heard to many people brag about their past here in UWA, that it's come to the point of sickening to hear about hardships and former glory.
So to wrap things up Shonn, if you really want to take that ride to hell, well buckle up. It's going to be nasty!
Lacey then blew a kiss to the screen, before giving the recording the middle finger, as she cut the recording.
Why was she working at this particular bar? It was a part time job for her when she was back in Toronto. She smirked, as a couple of fights nearly broke out, and she knew those particular fights were over her.
