The sun was setting on Las Vegas. J-Shades was leaning against his car on the side of a dirt road, his leather jacket on to protect against the chill. It was still cool at night despite it being late August. Jay had his shades on as he looked into the sunset.
“The reason I became a professional wrestler is simple. I love this sport. From watching as a kid in the 90s, to wrestling in high school, right up to signing my contract here in Unchained. Wrestling is my life and always has been. I could never imagine doing anything else with my life. This is it for me.”
“That being said, not everyone around me has always been so supportive of me. I have friends who I’ve wrestled along side with that told me This could never be a career. I’ve heard my coaches and trainers tell me when I first got into this that they didn’t think I could be part of those select few that actually make it into this business. Hell, my own parents haven’t talked to me in months ‘cause they think I’m insane for doing this.”
“And it’s not because I’m not talented. No, I know I’m one of the most athletic guys in the locker room right now. Ask anyone I’ve gotten in the ring with. I am a force to be reckoned with when I’m at my best. There’s no such thing as an easy match when you step up to the Bad Boy. I know I’ve got the talent. But to make it in this business you need more than just raw talent. You need the love for this sport. You need the heart and courage to fight and the resiliency to get back up when you fall. Even if you lose you need the will to get back up, wipe the blood off your face and keep moving forward. You need the mentality of a champion.”
“And that’s what this match is for this Sunday. It may be called the Television Championship, but it represents so much more than some TV deal that we don’t even have. It represents success. That success that so few people actually get to claim they had in this world. Getting to hold that gold above your head is getting the chance to shove it in the face of everyone who told you ‘you couldn‘t make it.’ That coach. That former teammate. Your so called friends. Your family. The internet dwellers. Your peers. Your boss. Anything anyone ever said is invalid when your wearing the gold.”
“And what makes this Sunday even more sweeter is the chance to become the FIRST person to hold this championship. The winner makes history this Sunday.” J-Shades pulls a little smirk and continues, “I make history this Sunday. The championship is enough to motivate me go at it 110 percent, but there’s something else that’s pushing me just a little bit more. I’ve lost to all three of you. Maybe that would scare others but for me it’s just exciting! Think about it. J-Shades, the rookie with only one lose goes on a winning streak, but gets derailed by that little blonde pervert Bob Brooks. It starts a downward spiral where he loses four matches in a row. Now I have you Skylar, my first lose; bob Brooks, the man who stopped me in my tracks; and Amy Zing, the woman who beat me most recently, all in one ring with me. I have the chance to redeem myself against all of you and walk away with the one thing everyone wants. The one thing that lets me say ‘I told you so!’”
“That’s exactly what I’m going to do when I win, too. I’m letting everyone know that I made it. I did what so many people have tried to do and failed. I became a champion. I made something of My self. I told you so!”
