Scene opens on Katarina O'Hara and her friend Sophia in the car on the way home from the show. Katarina was silent, hadnt spoken much since they left the arena. Mostly cos she was off put a little. The events at the show were fresh in her mind. The man she saw, the text she received. She almost didnt want to put voice to it, cos that would make it all the more real for her.
Sophia looks over at her from the passenger seat.
Sophia: So... What happened?
Katarina looks over and frowns.
Katarina: Hmm?
Sophia rolls her eyes.
Sophia: You're clunching that steering wheel like its your last thread of life... You've barely spoke a word since we left the arena and the look n you face aint doing wonders for you're frown line... Now are you going to tell me what happened or am I just gonna have to sit here and watch you squirm all night?"
Katarina sighs. Well here goes...
Katarina: "I saw him again... I think...
Sophia frowns
Sophia: "Him?"
Katarina: "The guy from last week, the one who creeped me out... but I think I was imagining it, cos he was there one second then he was gone... But read this, it was sent to me about the same time..."
She holds out her phone and text to Sophia.
Sophia: "Like a Spider to the fly... isnt that a line from one of your poems?"
Katarina: "Yes... One that no one else beside you has ever read..."
Sophia: "I didnt send you that text Kat..."
Katarina: "I know... and thats what concerns me..."
Sophia: "Is that why Craven was with you when you came to meet me?"
Katarina nods
Sophia: "Did you tell him?"
Katarina: "No... I hardly know him Soph, why would I tell him?"
Sophia: "Good point... Well the numbers blocked so there's jack shit you can do about it right now, but I am not leaving you alone anymore, you hear me? First the guy at the signing freaking you out, now this... Not letting you get hurt again Kat, not now, not ever..."
Katarina offers her friend a smile, not relaxed in the slightest, but feeling a little more reassured.
