::Night is setting in St George, Utah, where the UWA will host its next episode of Monday Night Mayhem, the final one before the Searing Agony pay-per-view. The setting sun is ushering in night, which has caused the lights of the city to come on in an attempt to chase away encroaching darkness.::
::Leaning against the window of his hotel room, looking out into the encroaching darkness and illuminating city, is Kyle Travis. He almost seems to be staring down his own reflection in the window. “The Canadian Legend” is not wearing a shirt, just a pair of black pants.::
“Do you fancy yourself the savior Aerynn?”
“Do you truly and honestly believe that you can save the UWA from the Children of Nephilim?”
“Do you truly believe that you can save us from evil?”
“I don’t. And I do not for a second buy that as the reason for you and Arsenal going into Searing Agony.”
::Travis lowers his arm, placing his hands on the windowsill. He keeps looking out into the twilight.::
“Aerynn, you decided only now to fight the Children of Nephilim. Only now, now that Broderick was taken, only now that affects your wallet, do you stand and fight. And you wonder why I called you a disappointment and a petulant child?”
“I fail to see how walking out, how leaving the company high and dry without a champion is leading, or fighting back. I fail to see how it is anything other that weak and cowardly. I mean didn’t your parents have ties to the IRA? Where is that fighting Irish spirit? Appeasement and non-violence didn’t work for Chamberlain and the rest of Europe in the years before World War II. And yet, you are now, what, trying to make us believe that you are Churchill, that you have always been there warning of the danger the Children of Nephilim pose, but none of us would listen?”
::He smirks with a slight amusement.::
“If you were so hell bent on fighting against him, in defying him, why did you and Arsenal go through with the Four Way? Why did you not hit the ring and try and save Zachariah Blood when they swarmed like sharks and tore him apart? Why have you not just grabbed some blunt object like a chair or a 2x4 or something, gathered Arsenal and gone after him?”
“Monday Night, the Children of Nephilim will make their in ring wrestling debut. You know the time they will be there. You know when they will be there. You will have an opportunity to get them, to try and injure them to prove that they have no power over you. But you won’t. The time will come and you will make no move against them at all.”
::Slowly, Travis pushes himself away from the window and turns back into the room. It is not a grand room, but still a nice room. There is a single bed, television, dresser and nightstand. His suitcase is sitting on the bed. Resting on the pillows is the UWA North American Championship.::
“I know this is true because you have made no move and taken no action against him at all, except empty words that have no meaning or threatening to walk away. That hardly makes you a leader. Even worse, you are allowing him to dictate exactly how you fight him. He selected the match you have. He selected who will fight with you and when. You are not taking the fight to him. He was already won the fight; you are just going through the motions.”
“You wonder why I am not out there fighting against him, running out to the ring to join you against him. The reason is that you are fighting for the wrong reasons. You are not fighting to the future of the UWA. You are not fighting for all of us. This is not some grand campaign.”
“You only started to fight once Broderick Montgomery was taken. You only started to fight when it affected your bank account. The entire world watched Jeszika Gautier version 2 break Broderick’s heart and emasculate him, and then watch as he was taken away. This has nothing to do with the UWA. This is not some grand quest against tyranny or trying to free the UWA from oppression. This is not some crusade for justice. This is about your wallet getting lighter and Jeszika’s emotional instability and conflicted feelings about the guy she basically used. And you wonder why I am not out there fighting Joshua McBride at your side?”
“Well the answers should be obvious. I am not married to him to keep him away from other women in what I believe is not a cruel and manipulative action, but instead is somehow noble. I am not employed by Broderick Montgomery as an employee, a consultant or a temp. I honestly do not care about him. Nor do I have any interest in fighting to get him back or for him.”
“What you, Jeszika and K.I.S.S. are fighting for is not the UWA. It is for you. Your wallet is getting lighter, Jeszika feels guilty and emotional conflicted and I honestly have no idea why K.I.S.S. is there and you want Broderick back. Sorry, but I fail to see how exactly how the recovery of Broderick is the light that will end the darkness. Just like America did not want to get into World War I because the people saw it mostly as a war of European interests and politics, I have no desire to fight for your agenda. That is part of the reason I am not fighting.”
“I am also not fighting because I will not follow a champion I do not respect. I respect what you can do in that ring, what you are capable, but not the person I see you as Aerynn. You are not McBride’s destroyer. You are his puppet. Every part of this fight has been controlled by him, and you are too blind to realize it. He is in your head, controlling all of this. Fighting a battle that is already lost holds no interest to me.”
::Travis taps his wallet, which sits on the nightstand, next to his changing cellphone.::
“I could pay Ashley and Bethany $10,000 in US currency each, all in $100 bills, to NOT show up at Searing Agony, just to leave you and Jeszika high and dry at the Children’s mercy, and I am confident that they would do it for $20,000.
::He moves his hand from the wallet.::
“Diet Jeszika Gautier has no heart. And I am not talking about what she did to Broderick Montgomery III and her emotional crap or guilt or whatever. No, I mean there is no fight, no passion, and no heart in that woman. How do I know this? How can I make this accusation?”
::With one swift motion, he picks up the North American Championship, the belt he won from the Garbage Man and Jeszika Gautier a few weeks ago, and holds it up.::
“I can because I have this, and because, as badly as she said she wanted to kick my ass, I am still here. If she was so hell bent on facing me, so hell bend on kicking my ass, she would have marched into Georgio’s office and demanded a match, or go out to the ring the second I issued an open challenge and tried to cramp this title down my throat. She did none of those things. He claims to hate me, she claims to hate Broderick, but there she was, crying as he was abducted. No heart. And you think you can win?”
::He sets the title down back down on the bed by the pillows.::
“Now maybe you are right, maybe he will eventually turn his interest to me. But, if he is smart, he will not. One of the greatest mistakes Adolf Hitler made was to piss of Joseph Stalin and open that second front. The other was to declare war on the United States while still at war with the Soviet Union and Great Britain. I really doubt McBride wants to open a second theater. I really doubt he wants to try and see if he can get away with even half of what he has done to you with me.”
::Travis opens his travel bag and slowly draws out a long, black, bloodstained crowbar. He looks at it like a samurai looks at his blade, sizing it up, holding it so he can look down its length. For many years, he has used it as a weapon to do many terrible things.::
“To you Aerynn, this is a tool used for prying something open. For me, it has been the weapon I have used to do a lot of violent things. Were he to come after me, I would use it. There would be no hesitation, no remorse, no regret if I had to use this one every single member of the Children of Nephilim until I get to McBride and cram it down his throat. Were he to do anything to my family or loved ones, then there would be no god capable of saving him. Yet, why should he make a move before he’s finished with you. After all, God has never laid siege to Hell, has he? No, so I doubt McBride will try to pick a fight with me before he’s finished with you.”
::He sets the crowbar down on the bed with a cold smile.::
“And I want him to finish with you first Aerynn. I want him to finish with you. I want your war, with all the wrong reasons, over. And I want it over, because then and only then, when you actually realize what you should be fighting for, when you realize that you need to take the fight to him, then maybe I will actually enter the fight because then it would actually be the grand crusade against evil you are trying to convince everyone this fight is.”
“Like Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, when you realize that you are not going to win, you will be forced to align with a man you may not particularly like, but have no choice but to align with. When you realize you lost the fight McBride wanted you to fight and actually decide to fight him the way you should be, then you come asking me to fight. Then you may have a chance because the only way to beat evil like that might actually be asking the devil for help.”
::Travis turns away from the hotel room’s bed and walks back to the window.::
“However, before you face off against him, you have to go through me. Now Joshua McBride is already in your head, but it is your body you should worry about Aerynn, because that is something I can and will pick apart in order to win. I already have no faith in your defeating the Children of Nephilim or your “noble crusade” to save the UWA by rescuing Broderick Montgomery III and your Arsenal is lackluster at best. So really, if I hurt you in this match, I am more than likely just sparing you the inevitable defeat.”
“Now McBride my have made this match, but only one of us is the puppet he’s controlling, and that is you Aerynn, not me. My only stake in this, my only interest, is that you are the UWA World Champion and beating you moves me up that ladder. I said my first day in that I would become UWA World Heavyweight Champion.”
::Stepping to the window, “The Once and Future King” folds his arms behind him, looking back out of the window as night comes over the city.::
“For the first time ever in the history of the UWA it will be champion versus champion as the UWA World Champion and the UWA North American Champion face each other. This has nothing to do with McBride, the Children or the noble campaign to save UWA by rescuing Broderick Montgomery. This is about you and me, the only two champions UWA has at the moment. This is about seeing which one of us actually has some fight in them, because I know it is not you Aerynn.”
“And yet, I honestly hope you will at least show me something of the fight you had in you when you won that title. You barely showed it at all during your reign. Only when the title is on the line do I even see a hint of that fight, but no other times. And you think that will allow you to beat the Children, save Broderick and thus bring peace and good back to the UWA? It won’t. It is why you will fail. It is why I will rip your arm out of the socket.”
“My main move, the unbeatable submission hold that has brought me so many wins, is the Pridebreaker. I named it that because there is no counter or way to reverse it once I have it locked on. The only way out is to actually verbally surrender. This prevents someone from tapping the mat and claiming that they were trying to reach for the ropes or something else. They have to acknowledge that they gave up. If they do not, they risk injury to the shoulders and arms. However, I feel it is almost a wasted move on you. You have no pride left to break.”
::As Travis looks out the window, his hands unfold and hang at his side, He opens and closes his left hand, flexing his fingers.::
“No pride, no heart, no cause worth fighting for or rallying others to and you think you can actually beat a group of zealots and their leader. They will fight for him; they will throw their lives away for him. They will fight. Can you say the same about Arsenal? Can you even say the same about yourself?”
“I think of the chorus of your entrance music, “Roar” by Katy Perry, particularly the lines about being a champion, hearing the roar, which is supposed to be louder than a lion’s, then recaps the whole champion and roaring thing. Well, I do not see a roaring lion. I see a mewling little kitten about to be put down.”
::Slowly, Travis lifts his open left hand upwards.::
“I wanted you to show me something, but I think you have nothing left to show the world. Your time is over. Joshua McBride will finish you. But the new age of the UWA will not belong to him. It will belong to me. The time of “the Once and Future King” is here and you are in the way.”
::With one quick motion, Travis closes his left hand into a fist. His eyes stare out into the night.::
::Leaning against the window of his hotel room, looking out into the encroaching darkness and illuminating city, is Kyle Travis. He almost seems to be staring down his own reflection in the window. “The Canadian Legend” is not wearing a shirt, just a pair of black pants.::
