Like many wrestling promotions, UWA has a central office building. And like every wrestling promotion, this central office building has, of course, offices and plenty of parking. More importantly, it has an archive room. It is here that every episode of Monday Night Mayhem, and every pay-per-view so far, and will be, is stored. Much of it will be used for highlight reels, archival footage or points of reference, or recaps, or to add to future DVD releases.
It is in this room, where all the present history of the UWA is kept that Sang Réal, Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown, happens to be.
The two second generation wrestlers are, as always, in suits and ties. They stand before a set of monitors, all of which are turned off, except for one. That one is paused on the image of the Cornbread Mafia from this past episode of Monday Night Mayhem, where they accepted Sang Réal’s challenge for a steel cage match.
Murphy: “You know what is impressive? I think it is amazing that somehow people understood that the Cornbread Mafia accepted our challenge, because I honestly did not understand a single word that either of those two hicks said.”
Krown: “Every time they speak, I feel like I need a translator. I have barely understood anything those two have said, and I understand what they say on Swamp People, but I barely understand half of what those two hicks say.”
Muphy: “It also amazes me that those two are so popular when I do not recall the last time they were in the ring against anyone that was not Sang Réal. In fact, I am pretty sure that we are the last people they actually stepped into the ring against. You two never seem to actually get matches.”
Krown: “And is there any reason to wonder why we are the hottest commodity in the UWA tag team division? I mean we get booked in matches. We are on Monday Night Mayhem week after week announcing matches. You two are not really doing anything and the same goes for K.I.S.S. when you actually stop and think about it, not that I think you two take time to think or even think.”
Murphy: “When the UWA began, and the tag team division was starting, everyone, everyone was looking at K.I.S.S. to lead the division, to make a huge impact in UWA. And what have you done? It is like the minute you lost to Dark Camelot, the fire was lost. You seem to have lost a lot of matches. You seem to have few matches. But there we are, on television, getting our names out, getting ourselves out there.”
The heir apparent to the Krown wrestling family name points to himself and then to his partner, moving his finger back and forth between the two of them. He then stops.
Krown: “You realize that no one cares that it will be you two are teaming with Jeszika Gautier and Aerynn Donnelly against the Children of Nephilim. I know don’t. Personally, I wanted to see Jeszika Gautier versus Broderick Montgomery and Aerynn Donnelly versus Joshua McBride. The fact you two are in this match really adds nothing to it. Nothing at all really”
Murphy: “When you really think about it, I doubt Aerynn Donnelly would have picked you two for that match. I doubt she would have picked your best friend forever Jeszika Gautier for this match. I know I would not have picked three mercenaries to face a cult.”
Krown smirks a little.
Krown: “Three mercenaries and some one else versus a cult? That is not a pay-per-view main event. That sounds more like some nerd’s Dungeons & Dragons plot.”
Murphy: “Now, the last time we faced off in the ring, I will admit, you two managed to get the victory. Since then, what has K.I.S.S. really done? Have you been at the forefront of this clash between Donnelly and the Children of Nephilim? No, you really haven’t. I’ve seen Sentinel, Broderick Montgomery and even Zachariah Blood try and fail. I don’t recall seeing you ever hit that ring to chase our resident cult leader and followers from the ring or anything like that. For that matter, Aerynn Donnelly herself only just seemed to get interested in this feud, and the Children targeted her first.”
Krown: “As a rule, we hate to agree with anything Kyle Travis said, my partner there , more than I do, actually goes out of his way to make it a thing that he does, but I think he called it. It really didn’t seem to bother any of you three until Broderick was taken and it started affecting your bank account. And it really does pain us to admit that Travis was kind of right about it.”
Murphy: “Now you two want to play heroes? Neither of us really like Sentinel or Blood, but we will be the first to tip our hats to them and recognize that at least they tried to fight back a lot sooner than either of you, or Jeszika or Aerynn.”
Krown shakes his head a little, wagging his finger.
Krown: “Someone really should have told her to start this fight a little earlier. She’s a bit late to the party.”
Murphy: “As I was saying, last time we faced each other, you two managed the win. But K.I.S.S. that was then and this is now. We may have underestimated you, but now we know what you are capable of. Now we know what you can do in the ring. And now we are ready to get another chance in the ring with you.”
Krown: “That’s right. We know what you two can do in the ring and what you are capable of. I kind of wonder though, if you forgot. And I wonder that because you two were at one point in time, and it was only about four or five months ago, seen as the team to beat, the team that would be the focus of the tag team division. Yet, that seems to be us.”
Murphy: “See, the beautiful thing about you two, K.I.S.S., is that we could probably pay you a few thousands to walk away. You are still mercenaries. That is all you are ever going to be. You think that makes you great or something? You’re mercenaries. Even if you win the UWA Tag Team Championships, which should be decided at some point, we could probably buy them off you.”
Krown: “We could probably pay you to throw this match too. That’s really showing the drive and passion to be the best when you’re willing to sell to the highest bidder.”
Murphy: “At least, though, we know where you two stand. Granted, it is with the person paying you, but your friend Jeszika is a bit harder to read.”
The son of the Irish wrestling legend Shameus Murphy takes a seat at the control console and presses a few buttons, sliding in a new tape and then pressing another button. It is from the Spring Slaughter pay-per-view, right after the North American Championship triple threat match in which Kyle Travis claimed the title after defeating the Garbage Man and the woman appearing the footage, Jeszika Gautier.
Jeszika gets about halfway up the ramp when Broderick Montgomery comes through the curtain and throws an arm around her shoulder. Jeszika takes a moment and looks up at him staring into his eyes and the camera catches Brody asking “Everything alright?” and her eyes seem to harden and she motions for a mic to be brought to her. Jamie jogs up the ramp way and hands Jeszika a mic.
Jeszika places a hand on Brody's bare chest and gently pushes him backwards. Brody takes two steps back and opens his hands as if to say “What?” and Jeszika takes a few steps back to stand on the actual stage and looks back down at him.
Jeszika: “I have been wanting to say this for months Brody. Do you really think I am buying ANYTHING your saying?”
Brody looks up more shocked and confused then anything else as Jeszika continued.
Jeszika: “For months now, months I have had one single purpose in life. Showing Broderick Montgomery exactly what he does to other people. To show you exactly what it felt like to be that poor girl from that club. To know exactly what it felt like to be ME when you manipulated me that first night. To show you how it feels to be manipulated. To show you how it feels to be humiliation like you have done to me, and countless other women in your life.”
Brody turned to face the ring and motioned for a microphone to be brought to him. Once Jamie had brought him his own he lifted it.
Brody: “....Jez...that's enough. I know your angry but come on....”
Jezika: “You think I am angry?! I am disgusted. I let you touch me. I feel like I need to go home and get into a warm bath....for a few months. I don't think I will ever be able to wash off the stench of you.”
If Brody looked angry he didn't show. He looked hurt but the U.W.A. crowd, women especially, began to chant for Jeszika. This seem to stiffen the platinum haired vixen as her back straighten and she lifted her mic again.
Jeszika: “My only concern is that these people wouldn't understand. That they would think I did this for my own selfish reasons, but they understand. They get it. I did this for women everyone. For Candice. For myself. For Aerynn for your poor secretary and for all the women you WOULD have hurt in the future.”
As Jeszika spoke Brody seemed to become more and more stricken. His mic was raised but when he spoke the words caught in his throat. Only mouthed 'Come on babe' but Jeszika shook her head firmly. Behind her Ashley and Bethany came through the curtain to support their long time partner. Jeszika looked from Ashley to Bethany and then back to Brody.
Jeszika: “NO! Don't you get it. This was all fake. All of it. And it was worth every single agonizing moment. Now you understand. The playboy...got played.”
Brody seemed to change before the viewers eyes. From stricken and heartbroken to angry. His eyes narrowed and he lifted his mic again. His voice no longer weak, but angry and snarling.
Brody: “I want to know where this came from. Who planned this? I want to know what makes you think THIS was worth it!”
Jeszika: “It doesn't matter Brody. It's done.”
Ashley took Jeszika by the elbow and the three began to turn but Brody took a step forward and lifted his mic again.
Brody: “DON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON ME! I'M NOT DONE!”
The shock on Jeszika's face when she turned showed. But still the three of them walked from the ramp way leaving Brody alone being booed by the crowd. And again he seemed to change. He passed a hand over his face. He kept swallowing like he had a lump in his throat and opening and clothing his mouth. Finally the lines creased on his forehead and he dropped the mic with a static splatter and then walked up the ramp way alone.
Krown: “On next weeks the Young and the Unchained Wrestling Alliance, Sentinel’s evil identical twin sister arrives to get revenge, while the wedding of Pauly O’Connor and his fiancée Courtney takes a startling turn when his ex-wife Maria returns after having thought to be dead in Peru.”
Krown smirks.
Murphy: “And then there was this little exchange shortly after the last one.”
Murphy presses a few more buttons, moving the show forward to another exchange later in the evening.
Broderick was sitting on the bench in the locker room with his head down and his hand over his face. One hand was taped for his match later and the other wasn't. He couldn't focus. The door to the locker room opens suddenly and we soon realize that this wasn't his locker room, but that of Jeszika Gautier. She freezes as she enters and sees him there, then narrows her eyes at him, then proceeds to ignore him, setting to packing her bag in a vicious manner, stuffing everything inside. Without a word she goes to head back out the door.
Brody: "Hey, wait."
Brody was quickly to his feet and across the room. A hand placed on the door hard and the door slams shut.
Brody: "You owe me a few minutes Jeszika. You owe me that god damn much!"
Jeszika rolls her eyes and looks at him
Jeszika: "What do you want me to say that hasn't already been said? You spend your life playing girls, night in night out, making them think they stand a chance. Don't like a taste of your own medicine? Is that it?"
Brody: "I told you that i would let you out of it dammit. The marriage, all of it. I apologized. I left Aerynn the fuck alone. I gave you whatever you wanted."
He leaned in close to her and snarled.
Brody: "The fuck do you want from me? To apologize because some stupid brainless gashes can't tell the difference between kind words for sex and the real thing? Stupid bitches get played....it's the way of the world. I didn't create the world Jeszika, i only live in it."
Perhaps, on second glance, the wrong thing to say.
Jeszika: "Oh so now you’re calling me a stupid bitch... Great Brody, reeeaaall Classy..."
She tries to open the door
Brody: "I wasn't....."
A deep breath taken and he looked at her one final time then lifted his hand and turned to walk back. Muttered to himself.
Brody: "When you’re chasing picket fences...there's always hell to pay."
She may remember it. from that night with his guitar, but none the less he moved away from the door.
Jeszika: "You just said "Stupid bitches get played" You played me that first night we met Brody... Never again..."
She takes this moment to slip out the door and leave him there. From outside she'd hard what sounded like him kicking a chair across the room followed by the sound of a mirror shattering. Jeszika pauses at the sound, then shakes her head and continues down the hall, a faint smirk on her face, but her eyes betray a hidden truth, one she does her best to hide.
The camera stayed on the closed door for a moment before the door opened and Brody appeared again. He was a mixture of upset and pissed off. His other hand was now wrapped and he had the hooded shirt up over his head and his head down. He paused a moment took a deep breath and began to walk.
The footage stops playing.
Krown: “Jeszika, I love how you followed ripping his heart out with dancing upon it. That was truly classy. I can’t wait to see what you do to us after our special edition of Roll Call.”
Murphy turns from the monitors to look at his tag team partner.
Murphy: “She’ll be pissed.”
Krown nods in agreement at that one.
Krown: “Then again, we could probably pay you to just take the abuse.”
Turning his attention back to the monitors, Murphy changes out the tape for another one and starts setting it up to play.
Murphy: “This, however, was just the icing on the cake for me.”
He presses the button to get the footage to play. It is recent, two weeks ago, from the Monday Night Meltdown right after Spring Slaughter.
“All American Nightmare” by Hinder hits the PA system and Broderick Montgomery comes through the curtains. No thousand dollar suit. No designer sunglasses and he looked like a man who hasn't slept in two weeks.
Lula Davidson: "....He looks terrible.”
Jason Chase: “....Is he even sober?”
Brody didn't even mock the crowd for the amount of boo's he was being given. Simply walked down the ramp way and rolled into the ring. A quick motion for Jamie to hand him a mic and a throat slash to tell the truck to cut his music.
For a time Brody said nothing. Stood amongst the screams of “You got played” or “Nanananana goodbye” and nodded with a disgusted expression on his face. When Brody did raise the mic the fans did grow quiet.
Brody: “I have thought a lot in the last two weeks. On my future....my past. On Sentinel and Talon and....Jeszika. I had to take a long look at myself through bloodshot eyes but now I have some things that need to be said.
First off....i want to apologize to Talon. I was angry....and bitter and I had no right to treat her the way I did. My beef was with Sentinel and the last thing I want to be known for in U.W.A. Is beating on wives. I am not some degenerate like Kyle Travis....”
Lula Davidson: "....Is he actually apologizing? He is isn't he?”
Jason Chase: “....Yes....and I am getting nauseous!”
Brody: “Sentinel.....Great match. You pushed me to my limit and came out on top again. You want to talk respect....”
Brody looks into the camera and makes the two eyes motion with his fingers and then holds up a single thumb and nods. For the first time, the crowd didn't boo him anymore. They sat and listened.
Brody: “Great job Sentinel.....take care of Talon and give her my apology.”
Lula Davidson: "....What is this?”
Jason Chase: “I....think the Silent Destroyer knocked a new personality into Broderick Montgomery.”
Lula Davidson: "....Or Jeszika got what she was trying to get by showing him the error of his ways.”
Jason Chase: “....I think i'm going to be sick.....”
Brody: “....And Jeszika....”
Brody lowered the mic and the look of absolutely agony crossed his face. Then he lifted the mic again but found himself suddenly covered in darkness. The entire arena's power went out. Even the emergency lights flickered and died. After a few seconds a soft melody begins to play and static began to appear on the screen.
Lula Davidson: "Oh god.....”
Jason Chase: “Not again!”
“And the cry goes out
(HaaaHaa)
They lose their minds for us.
And how it plays out.
Now were in the ring
and were coming for blood.”
Brody knew the song well and began to pace around the ring as one by one The Children of Nephilim began to come through the curtain. Led as always by the Priestess Miako. They all looked exactly as they did earlier in the night. They didn't stop at the stage, they all began their steady march down the ramp way and began to move until they surrounded the ring.
Lula Davidson: "....What are they doing?”
Jason Chase: “.....why wouldn't they move to attack?”
Lula Davidson: "Is this what they are here for?!”
“You can try and take us.
But were the gladiators.
Everyone a rager.
Though secretly they're saviors.
Glory and Gore go hand in hand.
That's why were making headlines.
You and try and take us....
but victory's contagious.”
Maiko walked between the announce tables and turned back to face the ring with the announces on each side of her. She threw her arms into the air and threw her head back in a silent scream and behind her rose a figure from the crowd. Six foot six and thick as a tree truck with long black hair hanging down over his face.
The Children all turned their heads in unison toward the man who rose from the crowd. Maiko took two steps back and the man stepped over the barricade and reached up a half gloved hand and touched Maiko's face. Maiko's face was one of fanatic ecstasy and the camera caught her say the words “My Lord.”
Lula Davidson: "Isn't that......”
Jason Chase: “It is! The Homeless man whose been appearing to the U.W.A. Superstars!”
Lula Davidson: "Brody has seen him, so has Aerynn and Ashley from K.I.S.S. Is he.....”
Jason Chase: “The Messiah they have been speaking about.....i think he is.”
The black haired man moved side by side with Miako and they mounted the apron. At the same moment the other members of the Children all mounted the apron and Brody began to look around. Finally the music stopped and they all entered the ring on all sides of Broderick. Brody said nothing, but eyes narrowed on the homeless man.
The black haired man threw his head back clearing the black hair from his face to show the thick beard and half insane smirk. He lifted a mic and whispered.
Man: “....Remember me Broderick? I told you to stop them. I warned you that if you didn't he would come for you....well here he is.”
Brody: “WHAT DO YOU WANT?!”
The bearded man laughed gently and then whispered.
Man: “....Your soul....for starters.”
Lula Davidson: "Did he just....”
Jason Chase: “....He did.”
As the Children all took a collective step forward the fans exploded. The camera caught sight of Jeszika Gautier came running through the curtain in a pair of black form fitting pants and a black half top with a chair in her hand. She sprinted down the ramp way and slid into the ring to pop up behind Brody back to back.
Lula Davidson: "It's Jeszika! She came to help Brody!”
Jason Chase: “I thought she was done with him....”
Lula Davidson: " I think proving a point, and allowing a man she cares deeply for be assaulted by these madman are different things.”
Brody takes the momentary back step of The Children and drops down and rolls from the ring. Brody begins to walk up the ramp staring up at the Tron and the image of the horde closing in around Jeszika and her shocked expression.
Lula Davidson: "He left her!”
Jason Chase: “Serves her right after Spring Slaughter!”
Lula Davidson: "Don't do this Brody! Your better then this!”
Brody stops halfway up the ramp staring up the Tron and Jeszika's face. The camera catches Brody mouth “Fuck” and then he turns and runs back down the ramp to a screaming pop from the crowd. Brody slides back into the ring and The Children stare for a moment at the pair. The bearded man whispers into the microphone.
Man: “....Your choice Broderick. Just you....or I can drag you both to hell.....do you love her enough...to suffer for her?”
Brody stares at the black haired man holding the Mic and without even a second's hesitation he takes Jeszika by the back of her head, pulls her into a kiss and then launches her over the top rope by the back of the neck. Brody didn't hesitate. He went directly for the leader of the Children.
Lula Davidson: "He spared Jeszika!”
Jason Chase: “What an idiot.”
Lula Davidson: "....It was impressive.”
Jason Chase: “It was idiotic....”
As the black haired giant and Brody battled in the center of the ring Maiko waved four of the six members of the Children to the ropes to keep Jeszika out of the ring. The other two came forward with clubbing blows to the back of the skull. Brody falls forward into the black haired man who grabs him by the side of the head and leans in close with the mic.
Man: “My name.....is Joshua McBride....and I am the Messiah of Destruction. The true Lord and Savior of this world...and that was very Gallant and.....”
Brody: “....Love makes you do stupid shit!”
Joshua: “....Stupid.”
The two black clad members of The Children fall back on opposite sides of the ring and come sprinting back, meeting in the middle with two big boot that connect with each side of Brody's head. Brody falls forward only to find his chin resting on the bottom of Miako's foot. She is standing in almost a full vertical split with her hand on the back of his head. Maiko then drops to the mat driving her foot into his face.
Lula Davidson: "This is getting difficult to watch.....”
Jason Chase: “And where is his back up!”
Lula Davidson: "They’ll all gone Jason.....Sentinel taken out by the Children.....Jeszika neutralized.....Aerynn's father's health scare....Brody is all alone out here...”
Jason Chase: “....they removed anyone who would help him.”
Lula Davidson: "....Oh my god....they didn't count on Jeszika's interference because they thought she hated him.....”
Joshua leans down and pulls Brody back to his feet and whips him into the corner. Joshua throws his entire body and weight behind the clothesline in the corner, making it look more like Brody was hit by a truck. As Joshua comes out of the corner he grabs Brody by the wrist and yanks him out suddenly for a second even more brutal short arm clothesline.
Jeszika: “STOP! STOP IT!”
Joshua looks down at Jeszika who is fighting her hardest to get into the ring, no fear being shown, but everywhere she tries the children stomp on hands and keep her outside the ring. A grin touches the evil face of Joshua before he turns his attention back to Brody who is lying on his back on the mat. Every few seconds he coughs and blood trickles from his mouth.
Lula Davidson: "Someone needs to get out here and stop this.....he may have internal injuries.”
Jason Chase: “....I don't think McBride is done....”
Joshua: “BAG HIM!”
Jeszika: “NO! YOU CAN'T TAKE HIM!”
Lula Davidson: "....The ppeople they bag....disappear.”
Jason Chase: “...Or are turned into one of them.”
The two children pull out a full length burlap sack and began to stuff the out cold Brody into it. Once he was inside and the sack was tied Joshua turned for one final torment. The Children lifted the bag up and Joshua order them to toss it into the air. In midair Joshua catches the head end of the bag with a vicious European uppercut and when the bag crashed to the mat it didn't move anymore.
Lula Davidson: "MY GOD!”
Jason Chase: “....I think Broderick is hurt....”
The two remaining members of The Children throw the motionless sack over their shoulders and slide under the bottom rope with the other four being a human wall between them and Jeszika. Joshua and Miako follow behind them with Joshua raising the mic one final time.
Joshua: “You were warned. You chose to ignore that warning. Now....you will all suffer the consequences of your decision to ignore us. One....by.....one.”
The four huge men of the Children stand as Vanguard as the two holding the sack, Joshua and Miako walk up the ramp never looking back at Jeszika who even now continues to try and get through. When they finally made it through the curtain Jeszika collapses to her knees just on this side of the curtain. The camera catches sight of her face briefly with tears running down her face.
The footage stops.
Krown: “Mix signals much? I would call you a manipulative bitch Jeszika, but that might actually be an insult to the manipulative bitch community.”
Murphy gets to his feet. There is contempt in Connor Murphy’s voice. It is rare to hear something like this given the usually calm and arrogant manner with which he carries himself and speaks, but it is there.
Murphy: “I love how you just tore the man’s heart out two weeks prior, and there you were, having watched a psychopath and his minions drag away the man you allegedly hate and used to keep him from other women, crying. Now I honestly cannot tell if this was real tears to generate sympathy because you revealed to the world that you were a manipulative bitch toying with a man’s feelings because you felt the need to avenge every woman he ever had sex with and you realized that a lot of the guys backstage didn’t like you because of that, or if you were actually capable of loving the man you hate, or because you realized that without him, you can’t get money in a divorce settlement like some gold digging whore.”
Krown: “To be honest, we are banking on the first and third options.”
Murphy: “I mean Jeszika, you do realize that the man is rich, right? Women throw themselves at rich guys. I have not had a meanful relationship since I started wrestling because all I have been doing for the past four or five years is having sex with ring groupies that throw themselves at me. Does that make me a bad guy? No, it makes me human. The fact that I only bang the hot ones and not the ugly ones or the obvious shanky ones may, but you lost all right to judge me bitch. I happen to like attractive and smart women, but yeah, I will have sex with a groupie because I am a heterosexual male and they are pretty much throwing themselves at me.”
Krown: “You really are a terrible person. And we should know. We have hung out with Kyle Travis. We know how to judge terrible people.”
Murphy: “So come on Jeszika, fight for all the women I’ve used over the years. Fight for all the women I have gone on air saying I would have sex with, because apparently, doing that makes me a terrible person, while what you did was so noble, so good and so righteous. But I am sure you are cool with guys who want to sleep with women wrestlers and the woman that use them just for cheap meaningless sex. I have met a lot of bitches in my day Jeszika, but you actually sicken me and you may be the biggest one of them all.”
Krown shakes his head almost like he is disappointed.
Krown: “It is really sad, but our partner Craven, has shown more loyalty, more compassion and more love for a woman he has been stalking than any of you three have.”
Murphy: “K.I.S.S., for us this is a bit personal.”
Sang Réal’s technical half, Gabriel Krown, glances at the team’s brawling member, Connor Murphy.
Krown: “More for you than me actually.”
Murphy does not answer, does not seem to have heard what he said.
Murphy: “We want to have another shot at you; we want to prove that we are the best team in the Unchained Wrestling Alliance, and that you two were nothing more than just early hype when the company first opened. So far, you’ve helped prove that true.”
Krown: “And we thank you for that.”
Murphy: “Jeszika, you want to try to come off as some righteous crusader for women’s rights or some defender of the virtue and innocence that so many are willing to throw away at a guy with money or a nice car or because he is famous?”
Krown: “As opposed to the image of you being a gold digging whore or a manipulative bitch, like you.”
Murphy: “Fine. Then on behalf of every guy who has ever taken then innocence and virtue of a consenting woman, you know, the bad people like Broderick, I am going to kick your ass. We were taught never to hit a lady. Lucky for us, none of you are ladies. That’s Murphy’s Law.”
Krown: “If you are really the best Arsenal that Aerynn can get her hands on, then I think I am going to need a copy of the Joshua McBride Bible. That’s Checkmate.”
Murphy: “We are Sang Réal.”
Krown: “And we were just born better, and are better people that Jeszika Gautier, that’s for damn sure.”
The two second generation wrestlers walk off as the scene fades out.
It is in this room, where all the present history of the UWA is kept that Sang Réal, Connor Murphy and Gabriel Krown, happens to be.
The two second generation wrestlers are, as always, in suits and ties. They stand before a set of monitors, all of which are turned off, except for one.
