>>> 19 May 2014 – Redmond, OR <<<
-- Monday Night Mayhem was over. She had retained her title. The match had been a brutal one. So brutal, in fact, that once it was over, the doctors were quickly following behind the opponents to make sure they were all ok.
-- Aerynn had frowned and kept trying to shoo them away. Waving them off as she made her way to herl locker room. Once there, she let one of them check her over just so she could get out of her ring gear and back into her street clothes. Once the doctor was done and cleared her, she ushered him out. Closing and locking the door behind him, she turned to lean against the door. Back against the wood, her head dropped down as she closed her eyes and just…breathed.
-- She took a deep breath as she found her center and pushed away from the door to walk over to her locker and bag. She sat down to remove her boots. Which was then followed by the leggings she wore. Once those were removed, she stood and began to remove her top. Then she shimmed out of the shorts and stockings she wore. She stood in the room and worked her neck to make sure it didn’t lock up. She then rolled her shoulders a few times.
-- Yes, that had been a brutal match indeed. Too many grudges, too many emotions; including her own, was clouding everyone’s judgments.
-- She planted her hands on the edge of the bench and arched her back outwards. Rolling the spine outward and hearing a few pops. Then she stood, grabbed a shower and headed to the shower.
-- Thirty minutes later, she emerged from the shower wrapped in a towel. She moved back over to the bench and sat back down. Releasing a sigh, she grabbed her brush and began to brush her hair out. That done, she moved to start getting dressed in her street clothes. A pair of jeans, a white tank top and her black hoodie. She sat back down to then pull on a pair of heeled black boots. Tucking her jeans inside before zipping them up.
-- That done, she grabbed her back that was now packed back up with her ring gear and headed out. Out of the locker room. Out of the arena.
-- As she was walking to her bike, she called over to the hotel and informed the staff that she wasn’t returning that night. Asking if they could send her belongings to a specific address. The next phone call she placed was to Lia. They talked about the match for a few minutes and Aerynn told her that she’d see her soon. After hanging up, she called Logan.
Logan: “Hey babe. Saw the match. You ok?”
-- Aerynn laughed softly and turned to lean against her bike.
Aerynn: “Aye. I’m fine. ‘Twas brutal. Tha’s fer sure. I’m feelin’ it.”
-- Logan chuckled a bit.
Logan: “Yeah, it was brutal. But hey, you retained the title. Congrats, babe. You headed back to the hotel?”
Aerynn: “Nae, I’m headed back t’night. I dinna wanna stay.”
-- Logan frowned and grunted lightly.
Aerynn: “I know, I know. But I need tae ride. I’ll be ok, Logan. I promise.”
Logan: “How long before you’re home?”
Aerynn: “Six hours, there ‘bouts.”
Logan: “Ok, babe. Be safe. Want me to have the guys meet you outside of town?”
Aerynn: “Nae, they’ll na be able tae keep up wit’ me anyway.”
-- She laughed and so did he.
Logan: “Alright. I’ll see you when you get home.”
-- They both hung up and she mounted the bike. After securing her bag, she pulled her iPod out and placed the ear buds into her ears and found a playlist to listen to as she drove home. That done, she pulled her helmet on and started the bike.
>>> 20 May 2014 – Lake Tahoe <<<
-- It was well after midnight when she pulled into the private drive of Logan’s cabin. When the headlight of her bike illuminated the porch, Logan was standing there waiting for her. A smile crept onto her lips as she parked the bike and killed the engine. After dismounting, she secured the bike on its stand and removed her helmet. Securing it on the handlebars, she pulled the ear buds out and headed up the steps.
Logan: “Welcome home, babe.”
-- He pulled her to him as she reached the top step and moved over to him. She slid into his arms wearily and pressed her forehead against his chest. They stood there for a few minutes before he kissed the top of her head and began to step back.
Logan: “Come on inside. I have a hot bath and a cold beer waiting for you upstairs.”
-- She nodded lightly and headed to the door. Only to stop long enough to remove her boots before stepping inside. Once she was inside, she stood in the middle of the dojo and inhaled the scents of “home”. That done, she made her way upstairs and began to disrobe. A few minutes later, she was lowering herself into the tub and letting the heat work its way into her muscles. She laid back against the back of the tub and smiled up as Logan came in and handed her a cold bottle of beer.
-- She took the Killian’s Red and drank deep of the dark Guinness. Laying her head back against the edge of the tub and sighed in contentment. But she was staring up at the ceiling.
-- Logan looked at her intently.
Logan: “You ok, love?”
-- Aerynn frowned a bit.
Aerynn: “How does he know so much?”
-- Logan tilted his head to look at her.
Logan: “Joshua?”
-- Aerynn nodded.
Aerynn: “Aye.”
-- She lifted her head up to look at him.
Aerynn: “Seriously, how does he know so much ‘bout us? All o’ us. Me. Jezsika. Ashley. Bethany. Zachariah Blood came back t’night. They beat him down. Viciously beat him, Logan. Tha man’s already nae able ta wrestle ‘gain.”
-- She breathed deep and sat up.
Aerynn: “I told Bethany tha’ tha drums o’ war needed tae be sounded. Now’s tha time, Logan.”
-- She took another drink of the beer and slid a look at him.
Aerynn: “He’s booked us in a gauntlet match at Searing Agony in June.”
-- Logan’s eyes betrayed his demeanor this time. Anger flashed in that dark gaze of his.
Logan: “Can he do that?”
-- Aerynn shrugged.
Aerynn: “Oliver is tha one who signed tha contract. He had burns on his body. Tha parts tha’ we could see, any way. I think he’s been…”
-- She shook her head and pushed the thought away. She finally stood up out of the tub and wrapped a towel around herself. Picking up the bottle, she headed into the bedroom. Logan following.
Aerynn: “An’ tha’ bastard has been bookin’ us in some fucked up matches. Like this next show, he has me booked in a match wit’ Kyle Travis.”
-- Logan arched a brow.
Logan: “Champion versus Champion. But, what point does that prove?”
-- Aerynn sneered lightly. And then finished her bottle. Setting it on the floor in front of the bed.
Aerynn: “Tha’ he’s a soddin’ maniac wit’ a God Complex?”
-- Logan walked over to her and took her hands into his. Kneeling down before her and looked into her eyes.
Logan: “Let’s get some sleep and rest up for a couple of days. See if your newest opponent has anything to say. Ok?”
-- She nodded lightly and released a breath she didn’t realize that she’d been holding. She turned to dress for bed…
>>> 28 May 2014 – Lake Tahoe <<<
-- It had been just over a week since the Monday Night Mayhem where Aerynn faced off against ARSENEL. And, in that time, she’d been a trite busy. She had taken to Logan’s office to do a little research of her own while she waited for word from Gabriel to come in.
-- Logan came into the office as she was clicking through documents that she was able to acquire through one of his sources. He came up behind her and kissed the top of her head.
Logan: “Hey, babe. Wha’cha got there?”
-- Asked as he sat a mug of coffee beside her. To which, she reached out and picked it up. It was early morning and she was still wearing her pajamas. She glanced back at him then returned her attention to the screens before her as she took a drink of the coffee he brought her.
Aerynn: “Just lookin’ fer any information I can find on Joshua an’ his freakshows.”
-- Logan nodded and then grabbed another chair to pull up to sit beside her.
Logan: “You need to eat, babe. Why don’t you…”
-- And he was interrupted by Aerynn’s cell phone chirping with an incoming text message. She reached over to pick it up and read it over.
Aerynn: “Tis Gabriel. He wants tae meet.”
-- She looked over to him.
Aerynn: “I have tae go..”
-- With that, she stood, grabbed her coffee and then headed to get dressed..
-- It took her all of an hour to get to the address that Gabriel sent to her in that text. But once she arrived, she parked the bike, secured it and headed inside. It was an old run down building. Which she honestly couldn’t blame Gabriel for, being what his job was. She stopped at the doors of the building and looked up. Something wasn’t right. Not by a long shot. But she headed inside anyways.
-- Once inside, she made her way up to the third floor. She frowned as she seen the door to the office barely hanging on its hinges. She toed the door pen with her boot and looked inside. She stepped inside the office and stood just inside the door for a few minutes just looking around. The room was completely destroyed.
-- She finally stepped further into the room and started toeing through the destruction. That’s when she noticed a blinking light on the computer that sat on the desk. She moved over to take up the chair and pressed CTRL-ALT-DELETE to bring up the log in screen.
Aerynn: “Now, whot could yer password be, Gabriel?”
-- She mused to herself softly. She tried a handful of different passwords and when they all failed, she sat back in the chair. She tapped her fingers on the arms of the chair as she thought. After a few moments, she sat up. And her fingers flew over the keys of the keyboard.
-- The sound of the computer coming to life was the indicator that she’d gotten the correct password.
Aerynn: “Gabriel, you old sentimental fool.”
-- She murmured to herself as she watched the computer load all of its programs and documents. As she was waiting, a video started. It was Gabriel and he looked… scared. She narrowed her eyes a bit as she watched the video.
Gabriel: “I don’t have a lot of time. You were right to tell me to be careful. Something’s following me. Has been since I got back. This is bad, Aerynn. If you’re watching this, I can only guess you’ve figured out the password to the computer. I have the information you need. Some of it anyways. But at what price.. You owe me, Aerynn. Big. You need to come find me. I don’t think I’m going to stay here much longer. I don’t think I can. It’s close..”
-- And then before he could finish up telling her what he’d found, the video went all staticy and then shut off. As if Murphy himself was watching, Aerynn’s phone began to ring. She looked down to see a new number pop up on the caller i.d.
Aerynn: “Aye?”
Unknown Female: “Yes, I’m trying to get ahold of a Miss Aerynn Donnelly.”
Aerynn: “Aye, this is her. How can I help ye?”
Unknown Female: “I’m an E.R. nurse at the local hospital. We got your name from the wallet of a patient who’s recently been brought in. Gabriel Ramirez.”
-- Aerynn frowned.
Aerynn: “Aye, is he ok?”
-- Aerynn asked as she quickly stood up. As she talked on the phone, she closed the laptop and grabbed the cord to it. She removed the pack from her back and put the laptop in it. Zipping it up, she reslung the pack on her back and started towards the door.
-- The nurse went into how Gabriel was brought into the E.R. About how his condition was and that when they were going through his personal effects to see if they could inform anyone of his condition, they came across her name and that she had been named his medical proxy.
>>> Four Hours Later <<<
-- She was back home now and after telling Logan everything, she had sat down to start going through Gabriel’s laptop. Logan came in to tap her on the shoulder and nodded towards the screens on the wall. Then he clicked “play” on his own computer and up came the video that Kyle Travis had recorded the night of the previous Monday Night Mayhem.
Aerynn: “Hmm.”
-- She nodded to Logan who went downstairs to get everything ready for her. She closed the lid of the laptop and headed downstairs.
>>> The Dojo <<<
-- The room surrounding the dojo is dark. The only thing that anyone is able to see is Aerynn. Illuminated by a single light that seems to surround her head like a halo. She lifts her head up to look into the camera. A dark smile crosses her lips as she speaks softly…
“Disappointment.
Ye throw tha’ word ‘round like ye dinna know whot tha meanin’ o’ it. Ye were disappointed in me reaction tae havin’ me belt stolen. Ye stand there an’ call me a petulant child ‘cause I gave an ultimatum tae tha owner o’ tha company tae stand up against tha terrorists tha’ was.. Nae, HAS, come in an’ usin’ this company as its personal playground.
Ye ask if I would’ve followed through wit’ me ultimatum. An’ tha answer is.. Aye. I would have.
But, yer askin’ tha wrong questions, Mister Travis. Yer askin’ if I would’ve followed through. Yer askin’ if tha’s how a Champion is supposed tae be leadin’ tha locker room should act..
Aye, I would’ve followed through wit’ my plans. But, nae fer tha reason’s tha’ twisted, fucked up head o’ yers thinks. I would’ve followed through wit’ me plans ‘cause I am willin’ tae give up this title, this belt, tae stand up tae tha evil tha’s taken root in our yard.
Tha Children have made their home in U.W.A. They control whot we do. Whot we ALL do. Yer nae exception tae tha’ rule, Mister Travis.
Ye say tha’ me actions were selfish an’ weak.”
-- Aerynn shakes her head.
“Nae. Me actions were far from selfish. An’ I believe we both know who tha weak one here is. Don’t we, Mister Travis?
Ye say tha’ I’ve just now begun tae fight.. Where’ve ye been, Mister Travis? Where’ve ye been hiding? In tha’ lil panic room o’ yers tha’ ye call a trophy room. Tha’s where ye’ve been while tha rest o’ us have been fightin’ tooth an’ nail against Tha Children.
Ye keep throwin’ ‘round how I only fight when it affects me bank account. Ye’ve failed, yet again, tae pay any attention tae whot’s really been goin’ on in this company. I’ve been fightin’ from tha very beginnin’. Fightin’ fer those in tha locker room. Fightin’ fer Oliver an’ Samuel. E’en fightin’ fer yer delusional ass.
I dinna give one wit’s ass ‘bout me bank account. But tha’s all ye seem tae care ‘bout.
Well, tha’ an’ yer own fucked up sense o’ self worth.”
-- Aerynn laughs softly.
“Ye wanna know why Tha Children have nae come after ye?
Yer nae worthy o’ their attention.
Whot have ye done tha’s o’ any consequence? Nothin’.
As fer bein’ a monster.. Yer only a monster in yer own head, Mister Travis.
Whot ye truly are is a delusional man who thinks he’s worth more than he is. Aye, ye have a room full o’ trophies an’ replica belts o’ past championships ye’ve won. But, I ask ye this, Mister Travis..
At tha end o’ tha day.. How much comfort do ye get from those trophies an’ replicated belts? How are those trophies an’ replicated belts goin’ tae show tha’ ya have whot it takes tae stand up tae tha likes o’ The Children?”
-- She lifts her head up. Raising her hands out to her sides and laughs.
“Abashed tha Devil stood an’ felt how awful goodness is an’ saw Virtue in her shape how lovely; An’ pined his loss.”
-- And the camera faded to black.
