When your in Vegas you can go into any backwater gas station or stop and shop and never know if another world lurked behind the coolers. In the fifties and sixties when the organized crime syndicates came to Vegas they build hidden rooms into a lot of their fronts. A way to hide their activities, the true ones, from police and other law enforcement agencies.
This is where Broderick Montgomery III was located on that warm Thursday afternoon. In a little stop and shop off the strip that was owned by a longtime friend of the family. The main building looked like any other mom and pop shop in the country, but behind the last cooler on the left was a empty back and behind it stood a large storage room.
The barrels, boxes and extra products were all piled and stacked along the walls with a large circular table in the center of the room. Four men sat at that table playing what appeared to be five card dry. The one closest to fake door would be no surprise to anyone. Dressed in a pair of black slacks, black thousand dollar dress shoes and a blue and silver silk shirt he kept open with a gold chain around his neck and a diamond in each ear sat Broderick Montgomery III.
Around him sat other rich kids who wanted nothing more then to spend mommy and daddies money. They all looked up to Brody, as he was called. This was a young man with no rules. He did what he wanted. Bought what he wanted and bedded who he wanted. He was truly free.
?: “So Brody, where is that tasty bodyguard of yours?”
The question came from a short haired blond man of about twenty. He had stubble across his face and wore shorts and flip flops, even during the winter. Not to mention a year round, VERY fake tan. His smile was leering and his eyes shifty.
Brody: “I let Aerynn have the day off. She had to chase out the left overs of a party a few days ago. She hasn't been overly happy with me since. You still pinning after her Travis?”
Travis: “No, that's just way to much woman for me.”
Travis was a light skinned African American kid of about twenty-two. He was bald with a muscular build but very short. His parents owned a chain of gyms and he had a free membership, which he used often if his physique was any indication. Brody roared with laughter at that and tossed two cards to the dealer.
Brody: “Two. And Travis aint no woman out of your league bro. Aint no woman to much for you. Look at me....”
Body leaned forward after taking his cards, and betting two hundred and grinned around at his partners.
Brody: “I picked up this hot little silver haired number. Said she was more into girls but I didn't believe a word of it.”
Travis: “Why's that?”
Brody: “This one? She couldn't get enough boys. If she was a rookie to a man's touch, i'm the queen of England. This girl? No, I could tell she got around.”
Travis: “Man...why you gotta treat women that way Brody?”
Brody: “I treat them like they deserve to be treated. See? Aerynn isn't some hotel room type. But girls like this silver haired Hottie and her friends? A dime a dozen boys.”
The fourth, who this round was serving as the dealer didn't say much. He was Richard Right and truth be told, he hated Broderick Montgomery. The women loved him, and he was worth a kings ransom, but the man was a complete and utter douche bag.
One would ask if he hated him so much, why would he hang around this group? The answer was simple. He was the only none rich kid here. His parents worked for pretty much all the other parents. He made contacts. He made business friends. He had plans to become what these men were, just without the ego.
Richard: “So what did Oliver Georgio have to say about it? I heard she was also a member of the new UWA.”
Brody: “What could he say? He made me promise to be on my best behavior and to stay away from Jeszika Gautier but he wasn't going to fire me. He knows who I trained with. He's not that stupid. My trainer is no someone you want to cross.”
Travis: “I still don't get how you got him to train you.”
Brody: “Money my dear man.”
Brody lifted a hand to get everyone's attention. The other men finished anteing up and then looked up their eyes on Broderick.
Brody: “A great man once said, Everybody has got a price but a greater man would add to that that fewer men are able to find that price. I simply found his price.”
Richard: “And what was his price?”
Brody: “Medical care. First class Medical care.”
Richard actually dropped one of his cards in shock and looked over at the arrogant young man.
Richard: “Medical care? That was it?”
Brody: “Seems someone he cared for deeply had some issues that required round the clock treatment and monitoring. He wanted them in a full care, state of the art facility but he couldn't afford it. I offered to pay for it in exchange for his training.”
Richard: “You really are a bastard you know that? How many people now have you used sick loved ones to your advantage?”
Brody: “....Dozens? What's your point?”
Richard: “You don't do that Brody. It's morally reprehensible.”
Brody: “And do you know who says it's morally reprehensible?”
Brody dropped the cards. Flush ten high. The others all had pairs except Richard who didn't show yet. Brody lifted a brow and looked from Richard to his cards and then back to his eyes.
Brody: “...People who don't have the nerve or balls to actually do it. There are two kinds of people in this world. Sharks and Sheep.”
Richard: “W..hat about Wolves?”
Brody: “Get eaten by the Sharks....like the sheep do. Now....are you a Shark....or a Sheep? Or do you even know? Can you even spell either with your public school education?”
Brody smirked and the other two men laughed. Richards eyes narrowed but he said nothing. Brody nodded to himself and then reached for the pot with both hands. It was about then that Richard lowered his cards. A straight flush.
Richard: “Funny thing about that Public School education Brody. It teaches you decency. How to treat others and how to treat a woman. That's why at the end of the day that silver haired beautiful woman you tricked will come home to a man like me.....”
Brody stared in shock as Richard pulled the pot from beneath his fingers and across the table. Richard looked up at the shocked pompous rich kids face.
Richard: “....Because men like you will use them....and men like me will love them. I win on all counts.”
Other three men: “OHHHHH!!”
Brody: “Shut up!”
Richard: “Thanks for the game guys. Until next time.”
Richard smirked and walked over to the back table where the cash was seated and claimed the lions share then winked at a scowling Broderick and then left by way of the door. Beyond the door you heard a soft male voice say.
?: “I was told by Ms. Donnelly that Broderick Montgomery was here?”
Richard: “Depends on whose asking.”
Like him or hate him Richard wasn't dumb enough to betray Broderick.
?: “My name is Samuel Johnson. I am the head of Talent relations of the Unchained Wrestling Alliance.”
Richard: “Back that way.”
The man who came through the hidden cooler door was portly, to put it mildly, but he had that sweetness about him. His hair was down to his shoulders and waving but he had a gentle smile on his face. He took in the scene before him and chuckled.
Samuel: “Cannot say I agree with this particular hobby.”
Brody: “UWA head of Talent relations huh?”
Brody looked the man up and down and then smirked at his friends.
Brody: “Can't imagine he knows much about any kind of relations.”
Samuel didn't look pleased with the comment, but he would let it slid. Mr. Georgio had warned him about the type of person Broderick Montgomery was. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a single folded piece of paper and held it out between two fingers.
Samuel: “UWA's first Mayhem show has been officially announced. That's your opponents.”
Brody: “Opponents? Am I in some kind of Handicap match?”
Samuel: “Handicap match? No. not officially anyway. Though I can imagine none of the people in the ring with you are very happy with you.”
Brody unfolded the piece of paper and looked down at it and then his eyes shot back up to Samuel, who now had a big mocking smile on his face.
Samuel: “Mr. Georgio asks that you not abuse his hospitality again in the future. Enjoy your poker game gentlemen.”
Samuel showed himself out after this leaving Brody looking down at the paper that read “K.I.S.S. Vs Jeszika Gautier & Broderick Montgomery III”
Brody: “You have got to be kidding me.”
Travis: “What does it say?”
Brody: “He's teamed me with the girl....mother....”
Chaze: “Brody dude what's wrong man?”
Brody: “Oliver Georgio has a sense of humor.....a bad one at that. Excuse me gentlemen....”
Brody rose from the table and pulled his cell phone from his pocket. He looked down at the card Samuel had handed him with the match on it and exhaled through his nose. This....was going to be interesting. The number, he shouldn't have had, was dialed and he leaned against the wall and waited.
A woman’s voice is heard on the other end, a Cajun accent is picked up in her voice.
Jeszika: Hello?
A deep breath taken through his nose could be heard on the other end of the phone and then finally a very familiar voice.
Brody: "Hello Beautiful."
A growl is heard from the other end and anger fills the woman’s voice
Jeszika: “YOU!”
She takes a deep breath, seemingly trying to calm herself a little.
Jeszika: “Give me one reason why I shouldn’t hang up this phone right now you user bastard!”
Brody: "Don't give me that holier then thou crap Jeszika. I didn't use anyone. What happened was between two consenting adults."
There was, of course, that mocking purr in his tone now.
Brody: "But, we have bigger fish to fry now."
Jeszika: “How so? And How did you get this number?”
Brody: "Let's just say our meeting wasn't supposed to be quite so...."
And then again came that purr and he whispered.
Brody: "...In depth."
A faint chuckle could be heard, as well as a pair of voices in the background laughing.
Brody: "...Listen. I don't intend to start off my UWA Career with a loss Jeszika."
Jeszika: “What do you mean, what has you suffering a loss got to do with me? And you didn’t answer my question, how did you get my number, its unlisted....”
Brody: "I am sure Oliver Georgio told you why i was in that club. He sure let me know about it. He gave it to me before i left."
Jeszika: “He told you you were meant to meet me, talk to me about the company and stuff. That’s all I know. That I was supposed to meet you. I just didn’t expect our meeting to be so.... Like it was.”
Brody: "A fond memory for both of us then."
And again behind him came the cat calls from the two rich boys he was playing poker with.
Brody: "Listen. You and I? We have a date on the 27th Jeszika. I just wanted to make sure our....interlude, wouldn't effect your judgment."
Jeszika: “A date? You're telling me I'm setting foot in the ring with you and fighting you? Cos you know I would gladly do that, I want nothing more than to punch you in the face for leaving me in that bed for your little bodyguard to remove like a common whore...”
Brody: "I had a busy afternoon planned. You have to understand. Your not the first woman who fell asleep in that bed and the last thing i need is some hanger on, no matter how beautiful she is, overstaying her welcome. We both got what we wanted and i figured it was best to move on...."
He chuckled then and added.
Brody: "Or were you hoping for a different kind of wake up call Jeszika? Something....with teeth?"
She pauses on the other end.
Jeszika: “You really want me to answer that Brody? But this date you speak of? I'm facing you yes?”
Brody: "Your silence is answer enough Beautiful."
Then he said something else that may have sparked memories. The tone of his voice, the whispered way he said it.
Brody: "Good girl.....oh and your not facing me. Your teaming with me."
And then the line went dead. Brody slid his phone back into his pocket and looked down in thought. Yep. She's pissed. This is gonna be....interesting.
