::The fifth episode of UWA Monday Night Mayhem has been over for only the last half hour. It saw many exciting things happen leading up to the next pay-per-view, Spring Slaughter. Many things will be settled and history will be made at UWA’s next pay-per-view.::
::The McCaw Hall is empty now of the fans that sat in these seats only thirty minutes ago. The crew is busy tearing down the ring and the lighting and al lthe other equipment that went into making the boardcast.::
::One person who main evented tonight’s show “the Canadian Legend” Kyle Travis, is seated in the upper row of seats looking down at the ring. His hair is still wet from the shower he took after his match. He is now out of his wrestling gear and in a pair of pants and dress shirt.::
::Despite his loss tonight, Travis seems to be in a good mood as he watches the crews at work taking the ring and set down. His hands are steepled in front of him. One would think the loss would bother him, but as he had said, there was nothing about this night that said he needed to win, just that he needed to make an impression. That was the goal he managed to accomplish. Now, he has exactly what he wants most in the world. He has a chance to once again be a champion, to prove himself still one of the best. With a man like Travis, it is dangerous to be in the ring against him when he is like this. This is an apex predator at his most dangerous, in his element and he is not letting the kill get away.::
::He smiles a bit, seeming to actually be okay with what happened, but then again, he got what he came for. Travis has no issue getting it done however he has to, regardless of methods, or collateral damage or who gets hurt along the way.::
“Well, I can’t exactly say that tonight went as well as I would have hoped, but the end result is exactly what I had expected it to be. I may not have won my match, but I accomplished the goal of making it into the North American Championship triple threat match at Spring Slaughter. I do not deny that I would love to have gained a victory tonight, but I am willing to settle for a title match. It has been far, far too long since I was a champion. It has been far too long since I had an opportunity at a title that was not being held in reserve for someone else.”
“You remember what that was like Jeszika, don’t you?”
::“The Once and Future King” separates his hands and starts to point with his left finger. He smiles and shakes his head a little.::
“Oh wait, no, I forgot, that wasn’t you. That was the other Jeszika Gautier, who just happens, by coincidence, is your identical double in every single way imaginable. Sorry, I keep forgetting you are somehow living the plot of Orphan Black and that there is another Jeszika Gautier who is like you in every way possible. You would think I would be able to remember such a ridiculous explanation as there just happen to be two of you that are exactly the same. ”
::Travis chuckles a bit.::
“Now ordinarily, this would be where I would go into my trophy show off the twenty-three championships as a way to try and intimidate you.”
“However Jeszika, Garbage Man, I am not going to do that. And I am not going to do that not because I think it will not work, mostly because I am sitting here in Seattle and not at home in Calgary, but also because I know what you are going to say. And I know what you two will most likely say because I keep hearing it again and again, and honestly, it is just a little insulting to keep hearing it.”
“You are going to say what everyone says about my having a trophy room. You will call me arrogant for having one, while Jeszika, or rather her exact clone in everyway, will ignore her husband’s wealth and anything he has around the house that could be seen as arrogant or self-aggrandizing, because she’s hypocritical like that, or at least her exact double is. You will also tell me that nothing I did in the past, before I came to UWA, matters.”
::There is an arrogant smirk on the face of Kyle Travis, as if he knows something his opponents do not. Considering most people often ignore his past, that is probably true.::
“And that, my friends, is where you are very wrong. Unlike you Jeszika, I do not deny my past by blaming it all on some sort of clone or doppelganger with the exact same details. And unlike you Garbage Man, I have had a career that few people in wrestling ever attain.”
“So what does my past have to with Spring Slaughter? Well, the main answer to that question is that at Spring Slaughter, it will be a triple threat match. Ah, but why does this being a triple threat match matter? Well, I am going to explain.”
“The first OWO Tag Team Championship, the first FUW World Championship, the AWE World Empire Championship, the ACW Television, both United States and World Heavyweight Championships all have one thing in common.
::He gets that predatory look in his eyes, smiling that cold, sadistic smile and his voice gets low.::
“I won each of them in a triple threat match; a match that can be considered my specialty.”
::His tone returns to normal as he continues.::
“If you look at my entire career, I have wrestled many triple threat matches. If you look back, and get over the belief that nothing I have done before matters, you will notice the fact that I have won almost every single Triple Threat Match I have wrestled in. That is seven titles I just named, each won in a Triple Threat Match. I have lost only two out of maybe a total of ten or twelve, and one I lost because somehow, someone not even involved in the match was allowed to just walk in, jump me and get the pin. Everyone has a match that they thrive in, that they excel in. One of mine is the triple threat match, and it has been over three years since I lost one.”
“Still think anything I have done in the past prior to coming to UWA does not matter?”
“Still think you shouldn’t bother to pay attention when I say something? That I am just trying to make myself sound better than I am or something like that?
::Travis laughs a bit and smiles. Again, he points at something, wagging his finger a bit.::
“See, I would think that the fact that I have a tendency to win triple threat matches would not be something you would want to overlook. It is amazing to me that something like that gets overlooked. They talk about my wrestling ability. They talk about my claim that the Pridebreaker is unbreakable once locked on and no one has yet to disprove my claim. They talk about so many things. Yet, interestingly enough, they fail to talk about the fact that I win triple threat matches. I am the “King of the Triple Threat Match”.”
::He allows himself a brief smile.::
“So maybe, just maybe, you may want to go online or something and take a look at these matches. But, then again, I suppose what I did before coming here doesn’t matter.”
::Travis chuckles, but it is more of a mocking type, not anything expressing joy or happiness. He stops smiling, stops chuckling and takes on that predator’s look again. He knows he is capable of making the kill and intents to make it. No hesitation, no remorse, just action. That is how he works and he knows he is entering his hunting grounds at Spring Slaughter.::
“Thirty-three percent; that is all we have to win this match. Odds are just one-in-three. Admittedly, they are better odds than the odds of their being two Jeszika Gautiers, but still slim. And that is how I like it.”
“My entire career, despite all my success, people still like to bet against me. They still like to think the odds are against me. And yet, in the triple threat match, that thirty-three percent becomes all I need to win. That thirty-three percent makes me my most dangerous.”
::Slowly, “the Canadian Legend” gets to his feet. He walks down the asile and towards the end of the balcony, overlooking the rows and rows of seats, as well as the crew busy at work. They pay him no real attention as they work, though a few do look up to see how is talking.::
“There is no disqualification in a triple threat match. How can there be? I mean if I were to blast Garbage Man with a steel chair, how does that mean Jeszika wins? It doesn’t. Likewise, if Ergo, this is not a match that I really have to hold back in or worry that I am taking things to far.”
“There is usually no count out in a triple threat match. I can think of maybe one I have seen end in a count out, but that is only if two people are on the outside, and how long does that last before someone makes it back inside the ring. No, there is a lack of count out in triple threat matches that I enjoy.”
“The beauty of the triple threat match is that is it a great example of survival of the fittest. It does not matter who is stronger or faster, the match goes to the person who can make the most of every opportunity presented and is ruthless enough to make it work for them. I am the kind of person to do that.”
“When I find myself in that type of match, odds against me, back to the wall, my best comes out. I am at my most ruthless, my most determined. No matter what, you put me in a triple threat match, and even if both people in the ring hate me, I am walking out with the victory.”
“You look and see how many triple threat matches I have won. You look and see how I won those matches. You look and see that I am not just bragging about being very good at the triple threat match, but I actually have the proof to back it up. I win triple threat matches. I excel with only a thirty-three percent chance of victory. I become champion in this type of match.”
“The triple threat match is my match. This is not your match to win Jeszika, Garbage Man. It is your match to lose.”
::Placing his hands on the balcony, Travis digs into them a little. The slight pressure on his fingers is visible, but he seems to be ignoring any discomfort as he continues.::
“People keep saying what I did in the past does not matter. In this case I think it would matter a lot. My past, my present, and my future, is championships. I came here to win titles, to prove that last year in New Era Wrestling was a fluke. I came here to make history. With a thirty-three percent chance of winning at Spring Slaughter, that is all I need to make history. I will make history by becoming the first UWA North American Champion.”
::Travis moves his left hand, spreading his fingers open and stretching them, flexing them and moving them like writhing snakes, keeping it loose for the Cold Snap. He rolls his wrist a little as he does this.::
“For too long I have been held back, pushed aside and looked over. Too long I spent in the shadows while rookies or chosen elite got handed opportunities I had to work for. Too long I have been cast aside. I came to UWA with one goal and that was to become the UWA World Heavyweight Champion. If I have to win every title here to get to that one, then I will.”
::“The Once and Future King”, the man who considers himself “the King of the Triple Threat Match”, closes his hand into a fist.::
“See, for me, this match is about more than just the chance to become the first UWA North American Championship. It is about more than your need for revenge Jeszika or your need to justify your career Garbage Man. This is about my reputation as “King of the Triple Threat Match. It is about proving that I am at my best when there is a slim chance I will win. I have no intention of losing this match.”
“All I have, all I need, is a thirty-three percent chance of winning. What I can do with that thirty-three percent is more than you two can.”
“When it is all said and done I will walk out of our match not only having proven that I am the “King of the Triple Threat Match”, but also as the first ever UWA North American Champion. This is your match to lose, but mine to win. All you two will end up doing is bowing before “the Once and Future King” as he walks off with the North American Championship and there is nothing you two can do about it.”
::Travis spreads his arms outward and looks up towards the ceiling.::
“At Spring Slaughter, “the Once and Future King” is going to reclaim his throne and become North American Champion. No matter what I have to do to win, I will become a champion once more. You two are going to be there to witness it.”
::He lowers his arms and turns away from the balcony, walking the steps and heading towards the back to make his leave. He stops and turns back to the camera, looking into it with those cold predatory eyes of his.::
“Challenge and learn.”
::The scene fades to black as “the Canadian Legend” walks off.::
