-- It had been a week since the Monday Night Mayhem show. After the blind-sided attack from Fabian, her win over Jeszika and then another blind-sided attack by Nick and his little girlfriend, Amber. She’d had a rough show that night.
-- After the whole scene with Brody the day before, she needed a break. From him. From the situation as a whole. Hell, she needed a break from Life. And as she left Brody’s office the day before, she decided to take some time to herself.
-- Just a few days. That’s all she needed. As she reached the ground level of the office building in which Brody’s offices were, she pulled her cell phone out and flipped through the contacts list. Finding the one person she was searching for, she pressed “Send” and waited for the other line to answer.
Unidentified Female: “Hello?”
Aerynn: “Lia, tis Aerynn.”
Lia: “Aerynn! Hey! How are you, sugar?”
-- A genuine smile crooked the corners of Aerynn’s lips up as she heard the voice of one of her long time best friends. That deep Southern drawl instantly soothed the snarling beast deep within Aerynn’s own soul.
-- Sarah Natalia Emerson had been Aerynn’s only best female friend since the day that the Donnelly family moved into their house in South Boston all those years ago. Aerynn, not used to having a friend that was a girl, was all tom-boy. And Lia, as Aerynn came to call her over the years, was all girly-girl. The two seemed to balance each other in a way that no one understood.
-- And their friendship was solidified the first day of junior high school. Lia had always been a bookworm. Always made straight A’s in school. Always had her nose stuck in a book. And then came Aerynn.
-- Aerynn was the brawler. Her first day of school, she noticed that one of the jocks had been picking on Lia and the guy, whom she later found out was one of the school’s best linebackers, made the mistake of knocking Lia’s books out of her arms and pushing her down. To which Aerynn came over and cold-cocked the guy. Knocking him on his ass in front of all his friends.
-- Since that day, the two were inseparable. Through the rest of their junior high and high school years, the jocks never forgave Aerynn for embarrassing one of their own. They tried to harass and mock her, or Lia, whenever they got the chance. And it was during their Senior year that Aerynn got expelled from school for breaking the guys jaw….
-- The sound of Lia’s voice brought Aerynn back to the here and now.
Lia: “Aerynn, you ok, sugar?”
Aerynn: “Aye, I’m a’ight, lass. Look, are ye busy fer tha next couple o’ weeks?”
Lia: “Not at all. You need a place to crash or somethin’? How’s dad doin’? He gettin’ any better?”
-- That made Aerynn frown and sigh softly.
Aerynn: “Da’s no’ doin’ well, Lia. Howe’er, I’ll tell ye more ‘bout it when ye get tae Vegas. Aye? Ye up fer a few weeks’ vacation?”
Lia: “Am I? I could use a break from the madness that’s my life right now. When do ya need me there, darlin’?”
Aerynn: “Soon as ye can get a bag packed. I’ll call an’ get a flight booked fer ye. An’ ye’ll stay wit’ me. Sound good? Say..”, small pause. “..’bout two hours?”
Lia: “Alright, love. Now I know something’s wrong. I’ll be there. See you soon, sugar.”
-- And with that, Lia rang off and went to pack.
-- Aerynn, on the other hand, dialed Samual’s number.
Samual: “Aerynn, how are you, my dear?”
Aerynn: “I’m a’ight, Samual. Say, I have a huge favor to ask ye.”
Samual: “Anything for you. What’s up?”
Aerynn: “I need a plane ticket purchased fer a dear friend o’ mine. Also, a VIP ticket fer Tragic Engagement fer her as well. Can ye get her first class from Savannah, Georgia tae Vegas in two hours?”
-- Samual was writing everything down.
Samual: “Sure sure. And what about her return flight?”
Aerynn: “Jus’ leave tha’ open ended. I dinna know when she’s gonna wan’ tae return jus’ yet.”
-- They spent the next few minutes finalizing the details and then Aerynn ended the call. She had been heading back to her new apartment, but now that Lia was coming out, she needed to let Brody know that she was going to be taking some time off. From body guarding him anyways.
She turned and headed back inside. After waiting for the elevator, she was stepping back into Brody’s office.
-- Brody looked up as Aerynn came back in and gave her a confused look.
Brody: “I thought you were leaving.”
Aerynn: “Aye, I was. But, somethin’ came up. Look, I’ve been thinkin’.. I’m gonna take tha next week ‘er so off.”
Brody: “And why is that?”
Aerynn: “I have tha Fatal-Four-Way comin’ up, Brody. I need tae keep my head in tha game. I dinna need any distractions. An’, I have a friend comin’ intae town tae stay wit’ me fer a lil while.”
Brody: “A friend? What friend might this be?”
Aerynn: “She’s one o’ me oldest friends. She’s comin’ tae tha show.”
Brody: “…She?”
-- Aerynn cut a look at him.
Aerynn: “Brody. Focus.”
Brody: “Right. Right. Fine, if you must.”
-- And with that, Aerynn turned and headed back out of his office.

-- She’d picked Lia up from the airport the night before and they spent the night at her new apartment doing nothing but catching up. Not like they really needed to as they talked four or five times a week on the phone. But, being that as it may, they still spent the night eating Chinese take-out, drinking beer and just hangin’ out.
-- This was the kind of distraction that Aerynn needed to get her head back into the game. Tragic Engagement was a week away and she needed to make sure she had her sights, and priorities, in the right place.
-- Aerynn had pulled her laptop out and opened it to the UWA website. She and Lia sat there for hours watching through videos of the previous Monday Night Mayhem shows. Picking apart her opponents. As well as noting their strengths.
-- Video after video was watched. Notes were taken, by Lia of course. And they sat there and worked out a strategy for the upcoming pay-per-view. Aerynn wanted to make sure she wasn’t going to go into this match blind. She wanted to make sure she knew everything she could about her opponents.
-- It was after a few hours of Lia helping her to go through everything that they headed off to bed. They had a big day planned the next day and they both wanted to be sure they got enough sleep.
-- Now it was the next morning and both had set out for a morning jog. When they got back, they made a day of shopping and Aerynn surprised Lia with tickets to a local UFC fight that was showing that night at one of the local hotels.
-- That night, Lia was ready to go and was standing in the doorway of Aerynn’s bedroom urging her to hurry up.
Lia: “Are you going to take forever to get ready?”
-- A small laugh came from Lia as she stood there waiting for Aerynn to finally get her boots laced up. Aerynn looked up with a grin as she finally got the last lace tied and stood up.
Lia: “You know, if you tried a different look other than the jeans and tank top, you’d probably get more male attention.”
-- Aerynn made a funny face at her.
Aerynn: “I’m nae too interested in tryin’ tae get more male attention. Ye know as well as I do, tha’ a leopard canna change her spots. Nae use in tryin’ tae change now. ‘Sides, this works fer me.”
-- And with that, they headed out.
-- A couple of hours later, they were heading back to their seats after an intermission between fights and suddenly, Lia tripped. Spilling their soda all over a guy they’d been sitting beside the whole time they were there. Lia looked horrified!
Lia: “Oh my god! I am so sorry, sugar!”
-- She moved to try and help clean up the spilled drinks and the guy just kinda chuckled.
Guy: “No no! It’s alright. Seriously. I’m not upset. Shit happens.”
-- It was then that he locked eyes with Aerynn. And something inside of her, or about him, made her take noticed of him. The guy had a certain gleam in his eyes as he smiled to Aerynn.
Guy: “Seriously, ladies, I’m not some random asshole who’s going to be a douchebag over some spilled pop. Come on, let’s just enjoy the fights and…”
-- He stopped as realization hit him. And he turned back to Aerynn.
Guy: “Say, aren’t you that chick from the new wrestling company? Unchained something or another? Aerynn…. Right?”
-- Aerynn smiled a bit shyly and nodded.
Aerynn: “Aye. Tha’s me. Aerynn Donnelly.”
Guy: “Well hell.. Next round is on me.”
-- Aerynn and Lia looked at each other and smiled.
-- The rest of the night was a blast for the three of them. After the fights were over with, Aerynn and Lia headed home. No other exchanges were made between them and the guy, but Lia was gushing over the fact that he seemed to notice Aerynn in a way that Aerynn wasn’t used to picking up on.
-- ‘All in all?’, Aerynn thought. ‘’Twas a good night.’ And then she went to sleep.

-- The sounds of something being hit could be heard as the scene comes into view. Aerynn is standing before a heavy bag throwing punches as hard as she can into the leather. She has on a pair of sweat capri pants, a white sports and a pair of boxing shoes. On her hairs are a pair of leather sparring gloves. Her hair was pulled back into a messy pony-tail and she was dripping sweat.
-- A man could be seen standing behind, and holding, the bag as she threw punch after punch. Each one hitting harder than the last. After a few more punches and back-hands, the man taps the bag to let Aerynn know that it was time for a break. She gives a slight nod and someone tosses her a towel from off screen.
-- She catches the towel, wipes her face off and moves over to where her bag rests upon a bench. She moves to pop her neck before reaching into the bag and pulling out a bottle of water. After downing about half the bottle, she lowers it and raises the towel up to wipe her mouth and face off again.
-- And then she looks to the person holding the camera…
“Tragic Engagement.”
-- She tilts her head slightly to the right and holds a finger up as if she’s counting.
“Fatal-Four-Way.”
-- And then she straightens her head back up and holds up a second finger.
“Unchained Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion.”
-- And then a third finger joins the other two.
-- She holds her hand out towards the camera with those three fingers in focus. Only to pull them back and place her hand over her mouth as if she’s thinking.
“These three t’ings.. These… three reasons fer motivation.. Three reasons fer MY motivation.”
-- She moves over to sit on the bench and leans back against it. Her upper arms resting along the back of the bench as she looks up and smiles.
“Now, I know tha’ e’eryone’s wonderin’ ‘bout how I’m goin’ tae be wit’ me best lad, Pauly, in tha match. An’ like wit’ Pauly, I’ll do whot I’ll have tae do. An’ no grudges will be held ‘tween tha two o’ us. Now, tha’s not tae say tha’ I underestimate him in any capacity. Jus’ tha opposite. I fully expect him tae be a formidable opponent."
“I trust Pauly O’Connor tae do whot he feels needs tae be done. Jus’ like I’ll do.”
-- She stood up finally and started to pace back and forth. She had a look on her face as if she were thinking about something. Only to crack a smile.
“An’ ye, Nick Daniels. Are ye ok o’er there? I’ve been doin’ great o’er here. Like ye, I’m two an’ Oh on me matches. Ye think I need tae step up my game.. Where would ye like me ta step it up to? Ye an’ yer faux Hot Topic t-shirt. Or tha lil whore wit’ ya? This ain’t amateur hour up here. I dinna know if ye can’t tell ‘cause ye been talkin’ tha whole mother-fuckin’ time.”
-- She makes a mouth moving motion with her hand.
“Talkin’ ‘bout tha championship belt. Ye’d like tha’ wouldn’t ye? Make ye feel like a man when ye get tae say ye’ve had this one, too. Like it doesna bother ye just a little bit tha’ there are two others who are undefeated, like ye, an’ I’m pointin’ it out? Ye stand up.. Throw those peacock feathers out..”
-- She mockingly puffs her chest out a bit.
“…Let e’erybody know it! Which is hilarious tae me. ‘Cause yer a young enough dude tha’ ye dinna know any better. See this man here?”
-- She motions over to a tv that was showing clips of Brody and his matches.
“I could piss this man off unbelievably, an’ he would sit there fucking quiet. Ye know why? He knows there is nothin’ I could say tae him; wit’ his thousand dollar hair cut an’ his rich boy smirk; tha’ will e’er fuck up tha pussy he brought wit’ him. He fuckin’ knows that! He owned tha’ shite when he walked in tha fuckin’ door wit’ it.”
-- She looks back to the camera and snorts lightly.
“But ye hadda get lippy, comin’ in. Throw yer peacock feathers up; put yer chest tha fuck out there, sayin’, “I’m a champ, too.” Which is hilarious ‘cause e’ery woman in here o’er tha age o’ twenty-five knows as loud as yer barkin’, as big as yer soundin’, all they hear is “tiny, tiny dick”.”
-- She tilts her head and smirks.
“I’ve been a bad bitch fer a long time. Ye remember tha’.”
-- She steps back for a moment. Places her hand on her chin for a few seconds; as if she’s thinking.
“Impunity.”
-- She leans forward for a moment with a mocking smirk.
“Ye keep usin’ tha’ word… But, I dinna think it means whot ye think it means…
Ye say tha’ Pauly is comin’ inta this match wit’ impunity. Fer some reason, ye believe tha’ he doesna know tha’ he’s walkin’ into Tragic Engagement an’ inta a fight tha’, if he wins, won’t have any repercussions. He knows full well tha repercussions o’ if he wins tha Heavyweight Championship. He knows full well, tha’ if he wins, he’s got a bulls eye on his back. Ye think tha’ Pauly doesna realize tha’, if he beats ye this time, tha’ ye won’t be comin’ after him wit’ a vengeance.
Impunity. I dinna think it means whot ye think it means.”
-- She moves back over to the bench and once again picks up her bottle of water. After taking a drink of it, she sets it back into the bag and rolls her shoulders. Only to turn back and look at the camera.
“Nick Daniels. Ye believe his actions on Monday Night Mayhem didna have repercussions. Ye believe tha’ he’s beneath ye. But, tha man has more championship titles under his belt than ye do. Because o’ his experience, there’s nae way in hell tha’ he doesna believe both ye an’ I aren’t gonna want revenge fer how Mayhem ended.”
-- She then began to pace back and forth. Taking a few moments to herself. She reaches up to tighten the sparring gloves on each of her hands and cracks her neck before looking back to the camera.
“Impunity. Again, Talon, I dinna think it means whot ye think it means..
Ye speak ‘bout others in UWA as if they were beneath ye. Ye call Fabian an’ Jeszika names as if they aren’t on tha same level as ye. Ye bring up Brody’s lack o’ focus an’ tha fact tha’ ye were able tae knock him down wit’ tha Black Sunset. An’ ye try tae point out tha’ I have no experience in tha world o’ wrestlin’.
But, ye ferget somethin’. One very small detail. Ye ferget tha’ whot I lack in wrestlin’ experience, I more than make up fer in fightin’ experience. I’ve spent years in tha boxin’ ring. Underground fightin’. Since I was naught knee high tae me father’s legs, I’ve been fightin’. I’ve fought men twice tha size o’ whot Fabian was. I’ve fought women wit’ a harder punch than even Jeszika.
How am I able to stand up, walk an’ talk like a human after weatherin’ assaults tha likes o’ which I’ve experienced over tha past few weeks? Experience.
I’m nae more beneath ye than ye are me. At tha very least, I’ll get in tha ring tae back up tha words tha’ I speak from me own mouth. I dinna have tae hide behind a wall of muscle like ye do, Talon.
We were speakin’ o’ impunity. So, let me educate ye, Talon. There is only one person in this who acts wit’impunity. An’ it’s ye. Ye are tha only one who believes she can say an’ do whate’er ye like without consequences. Not us, Talon. Ye. Ye an’ yer Silent Destroyer.”
-- Then she cracks her neck and heads back in the direction of the heavy bag she’d been hitting when the scene first opened. She pauses for a moment to speak over her shoulder.
“Fer a woman who talks down as much as ye do, ye’d think ye’d have a better grasp o’ tha English language. No one acted wit’ impunity. Not me. Not Pauly. Not Nick Daniels. In tha end.. All yer tirade did was expose ye as being uneducated an’ proved nothin’. So, in short, Talon, when would ye like me tae buy tha helmet an’ call ye tha Little Special Bus?”
-- And with that.. Aerynn upnods towards a man off screen and the scene fades with sounds of the heavy bag being struck again and again.
