::Kyle Travis taps the top of his crowbar as he sits in his office/trophy room staring at something. He is leaning back in his chair as he looks at something. He stops taping the crowbar with his left hand and raises it.::
“Step one: build evil cult that seems to go one and on about nothing of any real value or importance and just talks nonsense while trying to seem evil and mysterious.”
::Each number he holds up fingers on his left hand. For numbers higher than five, he holds up all five fingers, then closes his hand and holds up the remainder.::
“Step two: debut cult with hillbilly looking leader, who will steal the world title, and abducts people, but ultimately fail to lead them to glory despite having so many chances to do so.”
“Step three: replace hillbilly with mask wearing cheerleader who just goes on and on and on about how great their leader is and how when he gets here, it’ll be a thousand years of darkness, but pretty much spent all that time doing nothing other than talk about how great leader is, and just keep promising that leader will show up and he’s going to be so amazing and awesome and evil, but allow organization to stagnate to the point where no one cares about them and just hope people keep being afraid of group because harbinger, or evil hype person, tells them too.”
“Step five: due to someone attempting to destroy evil cult, rather than debut, instruct minions through a teddy bear, because everyone knows that the teddy bear is clearly a symbol of evil and just how bad ass and awesome the whole being a god to a group that’s pretty much existed on its own hype for half a year and been reduced to nothing more than the occasional backstage segment where they discuss how great their leader is.”
“Step six: debut as announcer, appear to be arrogant dick but try to keep some mystery as to being here.”
“Step seven; attack a pimp and declare self to be Satan himself, Lucifer reincarnated despite the fact Lucifer is not dead, but it was in Weekly World News and thus must be true.”
“Step eight; reveal self as leader of evil cult, and see where that goes.”
::Lowering arm, “the Canadian Legend” starts to slowly twist and turn the crowbar in his hand.::
“That, in a nutshell, sums up the so-called brilliant and terrifying evil plan of Michael Rivers, the leader and founder of the Children of Nephilim. There is no rhyme or reason, no endgame or logical conclusion.”
::Travis chuckles a bit.::
“It’s really a terrible evil plan.”
“It’s not even a cartoon supervillain type of plan. The Legion of Doom from the old The Challenge of the Superfriends cartoon had better evil plans than that. Sure, usually every plan involved turning the Earth’s sun a different color to eliminate Superman as a threat, and their plans were usually thwarted through some sort of stupid, asinine reason like Superman and a few Superfriends found a book in the future that said the Superfriends thwarted the Legion of Doom after the Legion of Doom took over the future or some other evil scheme that ultimately failed. Villains in 80’s cartoons had better plans, like Cobra shooting a restaurant into outer space to get the US to surrender a scientist. That one actually worked.”
::With his free hand, Travis rubs his temples as if he’s getting a headache. He stops and just shakes his head in disappointment.::
“Rivers’s evil plan is just a stupid. It is not that it is just so brilliant that we cannot see its ultimate end, for he is a god whose dark intellect is beyond the compare of mere mortals and only his chosen shall be allowed to understand his divine will. It is a stupid plan. I mean like a trying to set fire to the sun level of stupid plan. The sun is a giant ball of fire, so setting it on fire is pointless, but clearly, only the guy planning it can see the true brilliance of it, or at least that is what the Children of Nephilim would have you believe.”
“Michael Rivers is not a god. He is not a leader of men. He is not a bringer of woe. He is a lackey. For only the second man I ever met who called himself Carnage, he hardly ever lived up to the name, although I will admit that at least he could spell the word carnage right. I cannot remember of a single thing of value, a single career defining moment, or even anything worth mentioning that he did other than spend a few weeks as Snake’s lackey.”
“Oh wait, I am sorry, that was Dahlia who served as one of Snake’s henchmen. What did Michael do again?”
::“The Once and Future King” claps his fingers against his palm seemingly in thought. He snaps his fingers as if he recalls the information.::
“Oh right, nothing. The fact of the matter is Dahlia was the star and Michael Rivers, Carnage, he was just a footnote and barely even that. He can lie to his minions all he wants, but I know him, the real Michael Rivers. He was nothing in ACW and he is nothing now, just a nothing with minions. Yes, he put me through a table, but it’s not the first time and it probably won’t be the last.”
::Taking the crowbar in both hands, Travis twists it slowly back and forth.::
“I said a few weeks ago that if I actually learned who was behind the Children of Nephilim, I would probably lose respect for them. And, surprisingly, I was right. Now I will admit that I had very little respect for him to begin with, and by very little, I mean none. Now, I actually somehow have less than no respect for him. The sad fact of the matter is that I think I have done more for the Children of Nephilim than their leader and founder. The only reason he even revealed himself is because I kept calling him out to the point where if he didn’t show, he’d have lost all credibility. I decided to go after the Children of Nephilim, which made people take notice of them, which forced several of their hands to reveal themselves. I am sure history will remember it differently, indeed it always seems to when I enter a rivalry like this and others get involved, but I made the Children of Nephilim relevant again. Without me, Danika would still be in the back, talking about how great and terrible her dark lord is, and how he is not the complete loser, overshadowed by his girlfriend that I know he is.”
::For a moment, “the Canadian Legend” smirks, seemingly amused. The smirk quickly fades.::
“Why am I telling you all of this Cole Hunter? Why am I boring you, and seemingly, ignoring you by talking about the Children of Nephilim? Because Cole, if you recall, when I was talking about the leader of the Children of Nephilim, I was also talking about you.”
“Cole, I look at you and I see that you are a ruthless, dangerous, sadistic, cruel, manipulative, evil little bastard. You remind me of me actually. And you see Cole, unlike Michael Rivers who I know is actually kind of a bitch posing as a god, and thus not terrifying in the least, if you were running the Children of Nephilim, I would be scared.”
“I look at Michael Rivers’s evil plans and I realize that they are not evil or brilliant. They are all designed to focus attention on him, because, as Amy Zing observed, he is pretty much an attention whore. If someone is not hanging on his every word or giving him attention, then he’s pretty much worthless. The irony of course being that as now Sentinel, Amy Zing and Silver Baron have joined into the whole quest to destroy the Children of Nephilim, we are giving him attention. He’s really like a child that craves attention and gets mad if people realize the world does not revolve around him. It’s pathetic really.”
“But I look at you, and I watch what you do and I see a true mastermind. I see the guy Michael Rivers wishes he was, because I also see the guy who doesn’t have to stand there and constantly tell us he is the Devil or that he is evil until the words lose all meaning.”
“I don’t blame you for not joining the Children. Yes, a few weeks ago, you two shared a common goal, so it was a mutually beneficial alliance. However, I look at you and I look at Michael and I know which one is the more dangerous of the two. I know which one of you, given the right circumstances, either because they present themselves or are made, can do an amazing amount of damage and devastation. I know which one of you two is truly worth the hype given to him, and truly lives up to their name. I will give you a hint, it is not Michael.”
“Six weeks, three episodes of Mayhem, is how long I would give you before you completely took over the Children of Nephilim and made it into even half the terror I have to listen to Lula and Chase hype it as every single week because Georgio has the world’s biggest hard on for a group that abducted him for a few months, lost two huge matches, and really never accomplished anything and then spent the rest of the year backstage and hyping the arrival of their master, which, got to be honest, I was there and it was a huge let down.”
“Your first course of action resulted in the entire world thinking that Sentinel was stalking Jeszika Gautier. Now, what made this truly amazing is that even people who know Sentinel, his friends, co-workers, they all believed it. Even the announcers believed it. And then, you laid out Jeszika and told the world it was you. It was clean and precise and well executed. No one suspected you or even thought of you. There was no attention on you when you did this. It was brilliantly done.”
“Truth be told, I am amazed Sentinel didn’t try to rip your head off or that your actions did not seem to put you into the World Title hunt. Someone did that to me, I’d probably skin him with a crowbar or something along those lines.”
“And you follow that course of action with your battle with Fraser Freeman and Jeszika Gautier. Now this was truly a display of a manipulative mastermind. You turned Fraser Freeman’s fiancé and his own daughter against him, and judging by his actions in resent, it’s clearly broken him. I mean we all saw Vince Jones beat the hell out of the man, take him out of action for months. We all thought that broke him, but what you did was far more devastating than anything physical, and you keep going.”
“Michael Rivers comes up with a plan and no one cares. You come up with a plan and we are all wondering what is going to happen, how is it going to end. We all know you had something to do with Skylar or whoever is missing, because you seemed to have decided to destroy the Sin City Knights, which I will be honest, really needs to be put out of its misery, and ours.”
“If I have one critique, it was building Sin Inc. The Five have not wrestled since they debuted. They remind me of that group, Dead Men, or Dying Men or something, whatever their name is. I am honestly not even sure if they are still around and I really do not care. I just remember them showing up for a month or so and maybe a couple of days after that and then vanishing. It’s great you have five guys there with you, but they have not done anything. And if I recall correctly, I saw Artemis on the inactive roster, so I hate to say it, but it seems like, for now, there’s no good investment with Sin Inc.”
“And yet, I imagine a set back like that, if indeed you look at it like that, would just make you a lot more dangerous.”
::Travis gets up from the black leather desk chair. It pops back into place, turning slightly to the right as he gets up and moves towards what he was looking at.::
“Yes Cole, you remind me of me just a few years ago. I have build stables. I have turned friend against friend, brother against brother, and I have done many terrible, horrible things in pursuit of championship gold and glory in the ring. For all his talk of having a demon inside him, not once have I ever actually believed Silver Baron’s story of Oblivion being some sort of terrible evil he struggles to keep inside of him. If anything, it is a sad excuse for him to retaliate against someone who has wronged him while maintaining the idea that the Sin City Knights are righteous champions of justice and defenders of justice, protectors of the weak and downtrodden because he needs an excuse.”
::Smiling a bit, like he is amused, Travis shrugs.::
“What? Just because both of us happen to be against the Children of Nephilim does not mean I have to like him. I don’t. I never have and I probably never will. But Churchill and Stalin were never the best of friends, and they helped win World War II, so I don’t actually have to like the people I am teamed with, or even respect them. If he was so hell bent on destroying the Children of Nephilim, why is he just now getting into the fight? I can ask the same thing of Sentinel. Amy Zing I know why she got into the fight and it is totally justified. I was there in the ACW right around the time she debuted and when Carnage was riding Dahlia’s coattails and got to hang around Snake. Sentinel, on the other hand, it seems that he just decided, out of nowhere, that he was going to join the fight with the Children of Nephilim, and yet he is busy with Ashley and her hired goon Cronos.”
::He stops smiling and keeps looking at the item that he has been looking at on his wall. He starts to sound a bit bitter and resentful.::
“The sad thing is, and this has happened to me before when I start a fight, time and time again, it will not be remembered that I began this second battle against the Children of Nephilim.”
“When Red Hot Rob Taylor reformed the ECWC and invaded the LAW, I stood against Rob for a company that treated me like its whipping boy again and again, but all the credit for their defeat, which never really happened as Rob sold out for money, because that’s the kind of person he is, and the whole thing was just ascribed to one of his many ego trips, the credit for leading the charge went to Risk and Sledgehammer, despite the fact that both men spent the entire run of the ECWC out on injury, yet somehow, despite being medically unable to compete, and never showing up at arenas, and before Twitter and Facebook were things, they rallied the LAW to battle the ECWC, and I was, for every injury and every blow I took for a company that treated me like something to be scraped off the bottom of a boot, all my contributions to the fight were ignored.”
“I watched Risk, a three-time champion, who only won the belt once and was handed it back for terrible excuses twice, take on the role of the person management mistreated and abused. Never mind the fact that I had been fired nearly monthly, blamed for anything that went wrong and almost had my career ended in an attempt to gain a title shot that should have been mine and the show was canceled, and I was blamed. He was clearly mistreated. Poor little rich kid trying to play it like he hasn’t been handed everything his entire career. The piece of trash that ran the LAW once told me that I was not as good as Risk or Kyona Eph’Pha’Tha.”
“Considering I ended Kyona’s career and I am the last person to ever step foot in the ring with Risk, I would have to agree. I am not as good as they were.”
“I am better than they ever were.”
“A similar incident to Risk playing poor little rich boy occurred in NEW when I complained about management and how the place was run. I would complain that the same people kept getting title shots or that people who just walked through the door were handed opportunities while someone like me, working his ass off in every match he had, was ignored, and everyone told me that I was just whining. But, when a man who spent nearly the entire year as the number one contender to the NEW World Championship that it came as no surprise when he won the title started complaining about management and how terrible it is, everyone agreed with him.”
“So honestly, I cannot wait to see who history credits with being the person to lead the second charge against the Children of Nephilim. I mean I only declared I was going to end them right after Tragic Engagement and have fought them alone until now. Personally, I hope it is someone not even involved in the fight, like J-Shades or Tedman as opposed to Amy Zing or Sentinel, but it may be them.”
::He grips the crowbar tighter.::
“No, Cole Hunter, this time, this time, I will make people remember how history really played out. When the dust settles and the Children of Nephilim are destroyed, when Michael Rivers lays bleeding, and every one of his members forced to realize he is just a pathetic, sad, little man and not a god, history will remember I am the one that started it.”
“I look at you Cole Hunter and I see the man I once was. I look at you and I see the man I should have been since Tragic Engagement. I look at someone who is young, hungry, and does not care who he hurts or destroys or what he has to do to get to the top as long as he gets to the top. I know what I see because I used to see it in the mirror every time I looked. It used to be me. And now, when I look in the mirror, when I realize that the Children of Nephilim do not seem to be afraid of me, I realized something.”
::Finally, the camera turns to reveal what Travis is looking at. On the wall is the collogue depicting the highlights of his absolute destruction of Kyona Eph’Pha’Tha. There is Travis bashing a the head of a man, who happened to be Kyona’s husband, with a chair against the stairs. Another shows him standing over Kyona as she down on the ground, on fire in a parking garage.::
“This, Cole Hunter, was my masterpiece. This was the complete and absolute destruction of Kyona Eph’Pha’Tha. In recent weeks, I have found myself looking at this collogue because it seems like I am missing something.”
“I mean in this, I am telling Kyona’s daughter that her mother is a whore. I am bashing her husband’s head into the stairs with a steel chair. I am beating the hell out of her brother and her best friend, the godmother of her child. And too end it all, here I am watching the bitch burn.”
“So why, why am I not standing here having just set Danika Bayne on fire? They went after the family and why, why have I not just grabbed Miako or Sariel and just started peeling the flesh from their bodies with a cheese grater or just rippled their finger nails out? Why, when I had Miako tied up, did I not hit her with the crowbar or throw her down a set of stairs or through a window or just run her down with a car? Why have I not run any single member of the Children of Nephilim over with a car?”
“And then it hit me, Cole Hunter. It hit me like you striking Jeszika Gautier after admitting you were the guy who framed Sentinel for stalking her.”
“The simple fact of the matter is, Cole, and I hate to admit it, that I seemed to have gone soft. Somehow, someway, in the middle of this war, this attempt to destroy the Children of Nephilim, I have seemingly lost my edge, and I need to regain it. So I want to thank you Cole Hunter for reminding me who the hell I am. Sometimes, you just need to see a younger version of yourself to remember who it is you were and who you need to be.”
::Taking his crowbar in both hands, Travis stares at the collogue with those cold predatory eyes.::
“I am a ruthless, sadistic, cold-blooded, bastard, and those are my good points. I am the greatest technical wrestler in the UWA. I am the man who created the most devastating submission hold in the history of the game. I am the man who ends careers, breaks bodies and shatters dreams. I am “the Once and Future King”, “the Canadian Legend.” That is who I am, and that is who I need to be again. That is who I AM going to be again.”
“So let’s see if youth can beat experience, Cole Hunter. Let’s see if you are really that good of a predator or if this old lion still has it, because I fully intend to recapture who I was, even if I have to rip your arms off to do it. I may like what you have done, but you know, I never said I actually liked you, so I am okay with breaking you, driving you to your knees and making you bow to “the Once and Future King.”
::Travis turns away from the collogue and starts towards the door.
“Challenge and learn.”
::The scene fades to black on an that collogue and the image of Travis standing over an enflamed Kyona.::
“Step one: build evil cult that seems to go one and on about nothing of any real value or importance and just talks nonsense while trying to seem evil and mysterious.”

::He grips the crowbar tighter.::
