The handheld camera opened the scene telling those watching this who exactly they were watching. Now even if they didn't know, the mere appearance of the strange walled in compound would clue them in that much further. The compound of course belonged to the Children of Nephilim, and the hand held camera a trademark of appearances by their God, Michael Rivers.
Rivers however was not what was shown. What was shown was the outside of the massive house which sat on the outer most edge of the compound, near what could only be called the “Gate” the home was that of Rivers and his Harbinger Danika Bayne.
Amongst the shot of the house two figures could be seen. Both feminine and both tiny by modern standards. The first a blond with her hair tipped in half red and half black who wore a long white dress that hung down to her ankles and was opened at the back. Her hair was up in two twin pigtails.
Next to her stood a woman of around the same size but her hair was a soft brown and she had a Island feel about her from where she could be seen from the back. Her skin had that olive tinge and she wore a dress similar to the blond, except in red and her hair was down.
Danika Bayne and Sariel. It was Danika who spoke first.
Danika: “Has he updated you on the status of the trial?”
Sariel gently shook her head.
Sariel: “No Harbinger, not much. I assisted washing the blood from him on the eve last.”
Danika's head lowered and from that angle it was clear to see the little smile that played along her mouth as she half glanced at Sariel.
Danika: “I heard.”
The reaction to this statement was unseen by whoever held this hand held camera but after a moment Sariel did speak.
Sariel: “He said the Father now admits what he did to us.....and others. But holds firm to the statement nothing else ever happened.”
Danika: “No matter, Lord Lucifer will get the truth from him, even if he must carve it out.”
Sariel: “And what of this?”
Sariel held out one of her hands and motioned toward the house.
Sariel: “All the time he spends in there. We know how he felt, and still feels about Dahlia Harbinger. This is dangerous.”
Danika: “Agreed. Very.”
Sariel: “You don't think that it could possibly corrupt our Lord? Drag him back into the past?”
Danika was heard sucking in a breath of air between his teeth as she gave this a moments thought and then finally shook her hair.
Danika: “That is not a concern. No. That part of him died many years ago.”
Sariel: “Then what is this foreboding I feel Harbinger? That he may cross lines?”
Danika: “That is my concern, however our Lord, as Divine as he is, has come to enjoy earthy pursuits and he will not risk them. For they stop, if lines get crossed.”
Sariel: “......”
Sariel wanted to say something about not being able to just disregard her god's orders but before she could delve any further into that topic the door swung open and Michael appeared in the doorway looking back into the house. He wore a simple pair of jeans and a T-shirt with that inverted cross and seemed to be pointing at someone in the house.
Michael: “I will see to it. Now go.....”
The tone was that of a command as the door opened and Michael walked down the stairs of the house and crossed the grass to meet the two women, his eyes of molten gold color turned first to Sariel. His face a mask of no expression. He wasn't angry, but wasn't exactly happy.
Michael: “Our guest has asked for a different outfit.”
Before Sariel could respond Danika lifted a hand and brought it to her face in exasperation.
Danika: “And you said?”
Michael: “What do you think I said Harbinger? I made my orders crystal clear. They are a guest, not a prisoner.”
Danika: “And we are Fallen Angels, NOT gophers Lord Lucifer.”
Michael: “You are whatever I want you to be. You should be more concerned with the kid Harbinger. I am not at all happy with what happened at Mayhem!”
The hand held camera came around then and found the look on Danika's face was one of disgust with with the faintest hint of anger.
Danika: “And I am not at all happy that our 'guest' is even here!”
Michael: “You know my reasons Harbinger. Do not question me.”
Micheal’s voice had gotten down right dangerous as he stared into the angry, almost hostile eyes of the Harbinger. Sariel on the other hand knew this was brewing and stepped in, with her head bowed submissively to Michael.
Sariel: “I will see to it Lord.”
Sariel cast Danika pleading look and then headed toward and then into the house to discuss this newest request. Michael nodded to Sariel and then turned his attention back to Danika.
Michael: “Go and check on the Father. See if he has any new information for me. Inform him if he sticks to his lies we begin again tomorrow morning.”
Danika inclined her head softly.
Danika: “Yes Lord.”
There was a fire in her eyes however as she turns and heads for the Cabins. Michael, now alone, folded his arms across his chest and his eyes shifted from the back of Danika to the house and allowed a finger to tap his lower lip a moment as he considered.
Michael: “I have been left with a very predominate question since I saw the card for this newest Mayhem. Oliver thinks that because of the whole Silver Baron getting one over on us for the second straight week that he can keep this trend going.....
and then I saw it was Craven and the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it was the question I found myself compelled to ask him the last time I saw him. What has he ever done to warrant such loyalty?”
Michael looked then to the ground and ran his hand through the multi colored hair, staring down with narrowed and intense eyes.
Michael: “Why? Why? WHY? What about him and the things he has done warrants that kind of reaction? He is not special. He is not superior. And yet at every damn turn, it's him. He is the roadblock to understanding. To acceptance.”
Micheal’s head then shot up and locked eyes with the camera.
Michael: “I am trying to stop bloodshed here. I am trying to stop the past from repeating itself and yet at every turn, there is YOU. WHY? It's maddening R.....”
Micheal’s jaw twitched and slowly his tongue slid out and wet his lips as if he were trying drasticly to get a hold of himself. After he had finally regained his composure he lifted a hand and pointed it at the the camera.
Michael: “You know, I asked myself why I hate you.....and it took me awhile to realize it's because....you remind me so much of me. So much familiar. So much in common. So much.....still pending completion. Or....was.”
Michael nodded to himself and then pulled his hand back from the camera.
Michael: “After the last Mayhem I have something to prove....something which requires me to use you as an example dear boy. The Children of Nephilim are no longer someone to be mocked. A group to be ridiculed. We are to be feared. We are to be respected.
Joshua did a great deal of damage to my Hell, but I am slowly fixing the damage. It continues with you.....well that's one of the reasons I am going to do what I am gonna do to you......One of them.”
Michael then reached out and grasped the camera cords and pulled the plug. He had others things to do just now.
