Sariel kneels near the woods off the edge of the compound of the Children of Nephilim, eyes closed, haunches down on the back of her feet, her hands folded in front of her chest. Leaves crackle and crunch in the nearby woods as animals scurry by in the underbrush, a breeze sending other leaves tumbling to the ground as well. Standing off in the distance, Ramiel and Ananiel keep watch over her, allowing her to hold her time here in silent contemplation.
Ramiel: Do you think the cabins ever get to her?
Ananiel stares at her and frowns, pondering the question over and over for what seems like years.
Ananiel: I don’t know how she manages…
Ramiel nods slowly in agreement.
Ramiel: We all must sacrifice sometimes.
Ananiel almost laughs, seemingly finding the statement absurd. Ramiel turns to his twin and almost glares through him.
Ramiel: You don’t agree?
Ananiel shrugs.
Ananiel: Of course I agree, I have always agreed even when we were back in that… school…
Ramiel swallows at the mention of the place and manages a short nod.
Ramiel: Do you think Morgenstern knows of that?
Ananiel can’t believe the question is even posed.
Ananiel: I’m not sure he’d appreciate us using that word for him…
Ramiel nods to Sariel.
Ramiel: Force of habit…
Ananiel nods and they both turn back to Sariel.
Ananiel: Yes, Rami, I think he knows…
Ramiel nods in agreement.
Ramiel: He knows of everything, doesn’t he, Naani?
Ananiel snickers slightly again.
Ananiel: Morgenstern knows of everything, even that which we ourselves do not.
Ramiel nods.
Ramiel: Yet, not our will but…
Ananiel: His will be done!
As the two stand there watching, Maiko Adachi makes her way from the trees towards Sariel. The look on her face is both serious and loving, as if seeing Sariel kneeling here pleases her to no end. She comes closer, remaining silent as Sariel continues to simply kneel.
Ramiel: Mother looks pleased.
Ananiel: Sister Sara was to learn all she could in this place.
The twins continue to hold a watchful vigil even as Maiko walks closer to them. As she stops near them, the twins both bow their heads reverently to her. She smiles and turns to face Sariel as well.
Ramiel: She has been…
Ananiel: At it for several…
Ramiel: Hours, making no…
Ananiel: Sounds at all.
Maiko nods her approval.
Maiko Adachi: Good.
As Mother Maiko comes from the tree's in front of Sariel and approaches the kneeling woman another set come from behind the group. Maiko may be the first to notice them as they come around the big house walking side by side. Hordes of the Demons of the Children part as the two came.
Him in a pair of white slacks and a white button up shirt left open showing off the pale flesh of his chest and stomach to the evening chill. His hair was pulled up into a japanese style bun, complete with chopsticks, obviously a job by either Mother or Sister earlier in the day while they were alone.
She walks next to him matching slow stride for slow stride. She wears a black and red sundress and black stockings, her hair pulled into pigtails tonight, the red tips on one side and the black tips on the other.
She was free of her usual mask and he of his usual paint. They walked until they stood behind the Twins standing vigil. Him with his hands clasped behind the small of his back and her with a single arm slid under his elbow.
The two almost looked regal.
As they approach, Ramiel and Ananiel can’t help but feel the presence.
Ramiel: She is in…
Ananiel: Her proper silent...
Both: Contemplation.
The Harbinger smiles knowingly but He doesn't smile. Slowly his head cants and he shifts his eyes to the kneeling woman who sits in contemplation and then finally approaches. He does not touch the woman however. He simply kneels next to where she does. crouching until his ass touches his heels and shifts his head to look at her downturned face and.....watches.
Without moving, Sariel’s voice meets his ears.
Sariel: The blade sits before me, I only hope I can lift it this time.
The Harbinger behind the two, steps forward and slides her arms into the grooves of the arms of the twins without a word. He, however, stays with his head tilted to the side and watching her immobile form. After a moment he finally speaks, his voice smooth and even, not the emotionless mask it had been for days now.
Michael Rivers: I have grown to know....each of you in my own way. In your own special ways. And you....seemed preoccupied this morning Sister Sara.
When her words finally hit him however he lifts a brow and rises from his crouching position and comes around until he is directly in front of her and actually kneels and leans back on his heels. A very special position, a communion position showing she had his full attention.
Michael Rivers: There was a time you could not lift it.
Stated not as a question, but as fact.
Sariel: Angry words call back memories I did not wish to recall. Amy Zing reminds me of the woman who sent me to purgatory.
Michael Rivers: And what i did? What does that recall My Angel?
Sariel’s eyes open and she looks him in his own.
Sariel: Why I am no longer in purgatory.
There was something intense about his eyes, like molten gold that seem to burrow into the very soul. His stare had always been like that, even before all of this. The Harbinger watches in silence, safely concealed between her human shield. Michael's hand lifts and touches the side of Sariel's head gently.
Michael Rivers: Seeing him gave you hope.
Again not a question, but a statement, and he continued to stare.
Michael Rivers: I found you, and showed you a different way....i never asked why you needed one my Angel. Is there someone out there....who deserves the Cabins?
Sariel stares into his eyes, shock apparent in her own.
Sariel: At the… place…
It was a different Michael now. As the storm on the horizon began to rumble, his eyes narrow and turns to steel. Michael the man, whom all of them knew in their own way, was gone. Lucifer remains. Revenge. Though his expression and eyes harden, his hand on her head stays gentle.
Michael Rivers: Tell me about this place. Deliver your Sins onto me Sister Sara so that i may claim the corrupted and cruel.
Sariel nods slowly.
Sariel: We were sent to a special school. Rami and Naani, stopped Father Ash from having me again. Father Call and the Bishop made them watch…
The twins feel their Harbinger tense and her own face was stone-like. Michael, however, stays kneeling in front of Sariel and lifts his other hand and places it on the other side of her head and then slides his hands down to her shoulders and keeps them there.
Michael Rivers: Priests searching a father who has abandoned them take out their terror and pain on their charges. This priest tried to have you and My Twins stepped in, in righteous fashion. But they couldn't stop them.
Michael then leans forward and stares into her eyes, allowing her to see the steel, the hate and cold burning fury that burns there.
Michael Rivers: Give me their sin Sariel. Why do they deserve such?
Sariel: The Bishop… he called for my purification and exorcism…
Her eyes close again, tears starting to run down her cheeks.
Sariel: Rami and Naani were drugged and then given their own purifications before they were forced to watch. They think it was their fault…
Michael Rivers: Exorc......
Michael's lips curl into something akin to a feral animal. He rises from his kneeling like a shot, his head cants to the side staring down at her and they may see, his entire body was shaking.
Michael Rivers: Sariel. Stand.
Sariel immediately does as commanded.
Michael Rivers: Ramiel. Ananiel. Come and stand with thy Sister Sara.
There was no softness in his voice now. It was cold and cruel, like the voice which had spoken with Clarence. The Harbinger stands watching, her own eyes penetrating now, watching Michael carefully.
Ramiel and Ananiel make their way over to her without hesitation.
Michael Rivers: Angels.
For a moment Michael watches the three and then he nods softly.
Michael Rivers: You placed your trust. Your faith. Your bodies in the hands of men who have, for centuries, used their status and station to get their own way. To have what they want. She Suffered!
Michael roars the word “Suffered” and the Harbinger flinches.
Michael Rivers: But you stopped him from taking her most precious. That vile purification and....rite, were not your fault Angels. It was the fault of evil men. Who hurt. Who prey. Who victimize.
Michael looks at each of the Twins and asks them forcefully.
Michael Rivers: And do we take the blame for these men Angels? Or do we hold them accountable for their vile actions?
Ramiel and Ananiel both nod.
Ramiel: We did…
Ananiel: Not know how…
Ramiel: To do both…
Ananiel: Protect Sister Sara and…
Ramiel: Bring them…
Ananiel: All to justice…
Both: Until now.
Michael Rivers: Then i ask you three.
Michael steps forward then until he was standing almost chest to chest with Sariel and looks between the three of them.
Michael Rivers: You three helped your lord close a chapter. You brought me clarence. you brought Dahlia peace, finally. So i ask you now, do you want these men brought to task for their crimes? Would you have judgement fall upon them?
Ramiel and Ananiel nod in perfect synchronicity.
Both: Yes, Lord.
Sariel’s jaw tenses and she manages a nod. For a second, she looks like she might not be able to speak, but something compelled her, as if a new well of strength was suddenly available to her to be tapped.
Sariel: Yes, My Lord.
Michael looks from the twins and then to Sariel and steps first to Ramiel, takes him by the head, tilts his head down and kisses the crown of his head. He then moves to Ananiel and does the same. Finally he comes to Sariel and takes her head, but lifts it and places a gentle kiss upon her lips.
Michael Rivers: My gift to you.
Michael then turns on his heels and walk across the grass of the compound toward his home to prepare. The Harbinger looks at each in turn and then smiles softly.
Danika Bayne: Be free of your burden my children. Our Lord will see justice done.
Danika as well then turns and follows Michael toward the house. As Ramiel, Ananiel and Sariel stand there, each staring ahead almost in shock at what has just happened, Maiko moves in towards Sariel.
Maiko Adachi: Sara?
Sariel manages to look her in the eyes.
Sariel: He didn’t know?
Maiko looks into her eyes and then hugs Sariel, Ramiel and Ananiel both managing to turn and look at them. Sariel hugs Maiko back and nods slowly to the boys.
Sariel: Thank you.
Ramiel and Ananiel nods to her as Maiko steps back.
Maiko Adachi: Will you be alright, My Child?
Sariel nods slowly.
Sariel: Yes, Mother…
Maiko nods and makes her way back towards the rest of the compound leaving Sariel, Ramiel and Ananiel standing off away from everyone else.
Ramiel: He did not…
Ananiel: Know of what happened with…
Ramiel: The three of us in…
Ananiel: School…
Both: Way back when?
Sariel shrugs.
Sariel: I told no one and no one asked me. Were there any differences with you?
Ramiel shakes his head.
Ramiel: No.
They turn and Ananiel shakes his head as well.
Ananiel: No.
Sariel nods slowly.
Sariel: We must prepare…
The twins nod in return.
Ramiel: For the RZR Skwad or...
Ananiel: For what the Lord will…
Both: Do next?
Sariel swallows hard.
Sariel: We must be prepared for it all. The RZR Skwad make their debut, we must prepare a warm welcome for them worthy of our standing with the Lord.
The twins nod.
Both: His will be done.
