Monday Night Mayhem has ended, but the crowds are still gathered near the parking area hoping to get a glimpse of the UWA wrestlers as they left the arena. They, however, got more than a glimpse as the newly crowned UWA Television Champion “the Hong Kong Sensation Amy Zing is there celebrating her victory with the gathered fans.
As soon as she walked out of the arena, with the title around her waist, and put her bag in her car, she walked over to the gathered public, posing for photos and signing autographs on pretty much whatever was handed to her. Despite her match having opened the show and the adrenaline having left her system by now, and the hour of the evening, she seems to be in a very good mood. She would still be out here doing this, like she does before shows, but tonight is special, because tonight she is a champion.
Amy signs her name on a photo of her on a UWA program as backstage announcer Maria Zalis approaches her.
Maria: “Amy Zing, congratulations on becoming the first ever two-time UWA Television Champion and first ever two-time champion in the UWA.”
Amy hands the program back to the fan and signs another one.
Amy: “Thanks.”
Maria: “What is going through your mind right now? You have to be on cloud nine.”
She turns around to face Maria, smiling.
Amy: “Oh my God, I so am. Tonight, I gained more than a title. Tonight, I gained redemption. For weeks, Lacey has run me down, said I never belonged here, called me inferior. Well tonight, I proved I do belong here, and that I am not inferior. Tonight, I did what no one else in the UWA has yet to do, and become a two-time champion.”
Amy: “Tonight, I did something only all these people…”
The new UWA Television Champion points at the fans that are still gathered around the parking area. The cheers of the crowd almost drown out her voice.
Amy: “All these people, my fans here and all over the world, and I thought I could do. Each and every one of these people stood by me, supported me, cheered me on and tonight, it is these people that allowed me to become champion. I take nothing away from Lacey Roberts. She held the title for longer than I did, longer than every other champion in the UWA has had their title except for Ashley Kenyon. She is good. I may not like her, but I will never deny her ability. Cataclysm was her night, but tonight, tonight was my night. Tonight, I proved I belong in the UWA, I proved that I could beat Lacey Roberts and I proved that I could become a champion. She can make excuses, she can say whatever she wants, but tonight was my night to prove her wrong.”
Amy: “This one is for those that dare to dream that the impossible can happen, for those that never give up, and keep trying no matter what. Tonight was our night. Tonight, we did what she said we couldn’t, what she said was impossible, and we beat her. Tonight was our night, our moment. Tonight, we made history.”
She takes the UWA Television Championship off from around her waist and holds it up. A few of the fans reach to touch it. A small child high reaches out to high five Amy, who bends down a bit to high five the kid.
Maria: “You did indeed.”
“The Hong Kong Sensation” stands back up and shoulders the championship.
Amy: “You look at all the champions this company has had, Aerynn Donnelly, Ashley and Bethany Kenyon, Jeszika Gautier, Silver Baron, Vince Jones and Lacey Roberts, and you would think that any of them would have been the one to regain a title first. I never imagined it would be me to do it. I mean, yeah, Aerynn Donnelly is out due to pregnancy, and Bethany just lost the UWA World Championship, but she and Ashley could have challenged for the Tag Team Championships. Silver Baron could have maybe tried to challenge Sang Réal, but Sharpe is still out, and I am not sure what happened to Craven lately, but he and Freeman could get the team back together after he’s done serving Vince Jones, and maybe go after the Tag Team Championships. Speaking of Vince, I would have thought would have had a second chance at the North American Championship considering he and Ashley still have a bit of animosity, but I guess Vince is wants to prove he’s ready to go after the UWA World Championship. Jeszika could maybe have asked Bethany for a title match, between Tragic Engagement and Spring Slaughter, but she had that whole thing with Cole Hunter, which I admit was a bit of a shock to see he was the stalker. I didn’t think it was Sentinel, but I didn’t expect Cole. That was totally out of nowhere, and honestly, I feel bad for Sentinel. I have known him and Talon for years, and admittedly, he’s not the most open guy to talk to, neither of them really is actually, but I still did not think he was the stalker. It’s a shame no one gave him the benefit of the doubt or believed him when he said it wasn’t him. As much as I like Bethany, I was really glad to see Sentinel to win the championship, he deserves it.”
Realizing she is rambling, Amy closes her eyes and takes a deep breath to try and refocus. She exhales slowly, breathing out and then opens her eyes. The crowd does not seem to care this just happened as several of them try to get in the shot. Maria simply ignores the rambling.
Maria: “Well your win was not without an unfortunate aftermath, as we have learned that Lacey Roberts suffered a stinger during the match.”
Amy: “I feel kind of bad about that actually. I really do. But I find it ironic that Lacey went on about how she broke me at Cataclysm, and how she would break me again, and she got injured. I hope she makes a speedy recovery, because I know she is going to want this title back, and I am going to be waiting. I have never backed down from a challenge and I am not about to start now. This is my chance to make my second reign better than my first. I spent over two hundred days carrying this title around the first time, letting it sit on the sidelines. I have no intention of doing that this time around. I do not want to rest on my laurels or past accomplishments. I want to show that I deserve this title. I want to defend this championship.”
She turns to the crowd.
Amy: “Do you want to see me defend this championship?!”
The crowd answers back with a loud, thunderous “yes!” for an answer.
Maria: “Well, Amy, speaking of challenges, it has been announced that at the next Monday Night Mayhem, you will be facing Michael Rivers one-on-one.”
Amy: “I have to be honest, I was glad we finally have an answer as to why he is here, but I was a little surprised by it.”
Maria: “How so?”
Amy: “Well I expected when he announced we would have the answer as to why he was here he’d either be some newcomer’s manager, you know the type, the big guy who shouldn’t talk so someone else foes it for him, or he would be that very cocky type, like the UWA was nothing before he came here sort of thing, how he’s such this huge star we should be honored to have. I did not see him being an evil incarnate, self-proclaimed devil type. I am really sort of surprised by that. But I guess it fits. We have Children of Nephilim doing their thing about being an evil cult, Lacey riding around with her Devil’s little sister thing, so I suppose it fits somehow. It still surprised me to say the least, and almost becoming a bit of a cliché around here. Not a big one, but just a bit. I didn’t see it coming. Then again, I never thought Children of Nephilim would be taking orders from a teddy bear, which was kind of creepy and really weird. I could honestly see them Children taking orders from one of those Victorian style dolls, you know the ones, because those things are just creepy looking, or some sort of clown doll, because those things can look really, really creepy, but I did not see a teddy bear coming.”
Once again, “the Hong Kong Sensation” realizes that she is rambling. She stops talking and closes her eyes, taking a deep breath and exhales slowly, then opens her eyes.
Amy: “Sorry about that.”
Maria: “No, it’s fine. The teddy bear thing was just bizarre and creepy.”
Amy nods in agreement.
Amy: “I know, right?”
Maria: “So, in two weeks, you will step into the ring against Michael Rivers in his debut match. What is going through your mind?”
Amy: “So after a few months, we finally get the answer to the question of why Michael Rivers is here, which I thought was already answered because I thought he was a new commentator. I mean, it happens every now and then, you see a two person announce team random add a third member for seemingly no reason at all. Not totally sure if he added anything to the announce team really, but that sometimes happens when a third person is added to an announce team; it’s really hit or miss. No, apparently, Michael Rivers is here to wrestle and he is evil and…”
She stops mid-sentence, looking confused, then somehow disappointed or annoyed or something along those lines and runs her hand down her face. She places her hands on her hips.
Amy: “Seriously? Did we get this with the Children of Nephilim? Didn’t we get that same speech out of them or something? I feel like someone has already done this whole being evil and ushering in a reign or darkness or rivers of blood thing. I really feel like this has been done already. I don’t know why, but I have such this huge sensation of déjà vu when it comes to Michael Rivers, you know what I mean?”
Maria nods in agreement.
Maria: “Yeah, I think I do.”
Amy: “And what exactly makes him evil? Has he actually done anything evil? Is there a backstory here or did he just wake up and randomly decided to be evil? What’s the motivation?”
Maria: “I am not totally sure.”
Amy: “I am not trying to be insulting or mocking him in anyway, I am just asking because he’s giving me such this feeling of déjà vu, and I don’t know why. I seriously feel like I have heard this before, but I don’t know why. And not just from the Children of Nephilim, although I think it’s similar, but not quite.”
Maria: “I get that.”
Amy: “I don’t know. It’s just kind of weird.”
“The Hong Kong Sensation” readjusts the title belt on her shoulder.
Amy: “Okay, regardless of whether or not he is evil, or whatever qualifies him as evil, the fact remains that he and I are meeting in the ring. This is Michael Rivers’ time to shine. He made an impact by laying out Silver Baron on Monday Night Mayhem after weeks of speculation as to why he is here and has a chance to make a huge impact by beating a champion in his debut match, which would probably be a little more impressive if it wasn’t me, because I am hardly what you would call dominant.”
Amy: “Yet, I have no intention of making it easy. Michael Rivers, you may be evil, but I am going to fight because evil has to be fought. Maybe I am an idealist, but I believe in honor, compassion and kindness. I believe in true love. I believe in friendship and helping people and all the other stuff you are going to tell me is a lie or something because you are evil. Evil has to be fought, and not by just by great heroic deeds, but by the small acts of kindness, in just being a person. No matter how dark it is, the smallest light can pierce it, but the darkness cannot claim the light.”
Amy: “Yes, maybe I am about to get beat. Maybe you put my shoulders on the mat and pin me. That has happened before, a lot, and it will happen again. But you are not going to get me to submit or tap out. I will never give up and I will never quit. I will keep on fighting as long as I can keep getting up.”
Amy: “See, the thing people really don’t seem to understand about me is that I may be nice, polite and respectful, but I fail to see how that makes me weak or it means I lack passion. I have passion and desire. You want proof of that? Here it is.”
To the cheering of the crowd, Amy Zing takes the UWA Television Championship off her shoulder and holds it up as if it is all the proof she needs to counter people who say she doesn’t belong in wrestling or will never make it or lacks passion and drive. Judging by the crowd’s reaction, they agree with the argument she has raised. She shoulders the title again.
Amy: “Kindness, manners, respect, these are not signs of weakness. They say mercy is the hallmark of greatness. It is easy to give into anger, hatred and violence. It takes more strength to rise about all of that, to be the better person. The right path is seldom the easier path. It takes strength of the mind and of character to do what is right, to take the more difficult path rather that take the easy way. You declared yourself evil. That was easy. Anyone can declare themselves something, but living up to it is something else.”
Once again, “the Hong Kong Sensation” points to the crowd, who begin to cheer again.
Amy: “These people right here and all those people watching me around the world for the last three years declared me their hero, and every single time I step into the ring, I do my best to earn that honor. They keep me strong. They keep me on the right path. I never said I was a hero, they made me one and I try my best to be one because I am grateful that they allowed me to be their hero.”
Amy: “But who know? Maybe at Monday Night Mayhem, evil triumphs over good and you beat me. Maybe, good does win and I walk out with the victory. One match in a wrestling company is not going to win some epic philosophical war. When you get down to it, this is not about good versus evil, right versus wrong. This is Amy Zing versus Michael Rivers. You sat there the last few weeks and you watched me wrestling, doing commentary and now you are stepping into the ring to compete. You will have to excuse me for trying to make your debut a match end in a loss, because while this may not be some battle in a grand philosophical conflict, I am coming to fight with everything I have. You may win this match, or you may not, but either way, I am not making this easy for you, because I will fight to my last to win. At Monday Night Mayhem, I am going to try and kick your head off. You will get an up close and personal demonstration when I show why I am simply Amy Zing!”
As the soon as “the Hong Kong Sensation” says “I am simply...” the crowd joins her in say “Amy Zing!” by practically yelling it. They begin chanting her name as she turns back to sign a few more autographs and pose for a few more pictures with her fans.
Maria: “There you have it, Amy Zing versus Michael Rivers at Monday Night Maaaay...!”
Amy grabs Maria’s arm and pulls her over, handing her a camera.
Amy: “Take the picture please.”
Maria just shrugs and holds up the camera. “The Hon Kong Sensation” crotches down a bit to pose with some children in a photo. The scene fades out as Maria takes the picture and then shows it to Amy and the kids.
As soon as she walked out of the arena, with the title around her waist, and put her bag in her car, she walked over to the gathered public, posing for photos and signing autographs on pretty much whatever was handed to her.
