Bedlam, that’s what the scene amongst the Children of Nephilim had been lately. With the disappearance from their of ranks of the Father, the deterioration of the determination of the Mother and the constant seemingly random appearances of the Woman in White, things had not been as nearly as orderly around the compound as in days past. The Nine Watchers had spend an inordinate amount of time lately herding the other Children around, all of them trying to prevent a panic from setting in. Now, as they sit in their weekly meeting, Sariel scans the room as the other members walk in.
Samyaza: I’m telling ya, Ari, something big is about to happen.
Armaros nods as the two each take their place at the far end of the table, Armaros on the left side, Samyaza on the right.
Samyaza: I can feel it. That Woman in White means something… she’s an omen…
Armaros shrugs as he sits down.
Armaros: Unless she means Father has returned…
Samyaza shakes his head.
Samyaza: I don’t think Father wants to come back though Mother seems to soften her stance on that evermore every day.
Armaros simply nods as the pair are joined by the others, Turiel, Tamiel and Ananiel sitting with Samyaza on the right while Arakiel, Satariel and Ramiel sit with Armaros on the left.
Tamiel: Mother almost looks as if she wishes him to return.
Turiel nods her agreement.
Turiel: She does, indeed. I wonder if she has been given a sign that blame no longer mattered…
Samyaza almost laughs.
Samyaza: Perhaps it does not.
Arakiel nods, looking pleased.
Arakiel: Things would be helped immensely with Father’s return. The sheep look to scatter without the lead shepherd.
Satariel shakes her head.
Satariel: I don’t know, something doesn’t sit right about these things.
Both Ramiel and Ananiel frown.
Ramiel: But this is…
Ananiel: The Chance…
Both: We’ve been waiting for!
Sariel closes the door and nods to the table.
Sariel: The Generals are correct, this is the chance we’ve been waiting for. Things are in flux and yet we in this room have the chance to settle the flock. Samyaza is also correct in that omens are coming at us from every direction. Father still appears at the shows while Mother seems less and less sure that sending him away was the correct course of action for everyone involved.
Tamiel: And the Woman in White? What of her?
Turiel nods as a murmur spreads across the table.
Turiel: She appears at the most random of times and places and yet tells us of nothing.
Sariel nods slowly, taking in everything.
Sariel: Once upon a time, we were the kings and queens of this land! We listened to Father and followed his will unflinchingly and without question. Now look at us, we are Nine but we are Four and Four. We stand divided while the flock waits for a sign that will never come so long as we remain divided!
Arakiel: But Mother!
Sariel shakes her head.
Sariel: Mother did not know this would happen. She thought she was doing right by all of us by reigniting the fire under the Father.
Ramiel: There was more than one fire…
Sariel nods.
Sariel: Yes and now everything burns without direction!
Ananiel: So what do we do?
Sariel folds her hands and looks down at them.
Sariel: We have been granted the sign, the opportunity to take hold of all the fires and focus them in a single direction once again. Father once sought chaos and destruction in UWA as a means to secure great power.
Ramiel: He STILL seeks that!
Ananiel: As does Mother!
Sariel nods, her gaze still upon her own folded hands.
Sariel: It was to be the beacon that shone upon the world…
Ramiel: And yet it…
Ananiel: Could yet be…
Ramiel: If we but...
Ananiel: Do well on…
Both: The next show.
The others all start to murmur again before Sariel silences them all with a look.
Sariel: Yes, if we walk into that show and make those that stand against us wish they had never met us! Gabriel Krown and Connor Murphy are named as if they are Saints to be held in high esteem and yet they must be reminded that they are no such Saints! They speak without thought and allow forked tongues to give breath to covenants they never intend to hold fast to! They claim to be of royal blood but the only blood we care for is…
Ramiel and Ananiel both smirk.
Ramiel: Blood of lambs…
Ananiel: Willingly spilled!
Ramiel: Blood of sacrifices…
Ananiel: Gratefully received!
Sariel nods.
Sariel: Cameron Worley and Shawn Worley speak in an almost foreign tongue that few understand and fewer still wish to hear! They hide behind family so as not to become sacrifices for another. They think familial blood will save them and yet do not wish for the others to become involved. They cannot decide if they stand together with their family or if they stand apart and alone on their own merits! They are an army in name only...
Ramiel: An army of many…
Ananiel: Willingly sacrificed!
Ramiel: An army of cannon fodder…
Ananiel: Gratefully spent!
Sariel nods.
Sariel: Bethany Kenyon and Ashley Kenyon stand as heroes atop their lofty perch awaiting their laurels and halos for what they accomplished against us! But instead of lights leading the way, they are simply markers on the boulevard of broken dreams! They are the blood and the army served up to us…
Ramiel: The blood of heroes…
Ananiel: The army of none…
Ramiel: We accept!
Ananiel: We destroy!
Sariel nods, raising her arms.
Sariel: Such is the will of our Mother and Father! Happy are we chosen to serve!
Samyaza: I’m telling ya, Ari, something big is about to happen.
Armaros nods as the two each take their place at the far end of the table, Armaros on the left side, Samyaza on the right.
