The clock is ticking down to Raising Hell. In a matter of days, the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will be filled with fans eager to see the pageantry and the history that will be made at Raising Hell. For the first time ever, two new champions will be crowned as the first person to ever win the Tag Team and Television Championships in UWA history are determined.
The 9,500 seat venue that also serves as the home of the Las Vegas Sin women’s football team and been home to hockey, basketball and concerts, and where Raising Hell will happen is inside The Orleans Hotel and Casino, or just The Orleans.
Considered a locals casino despite the tourists it attracts, it is not as big as some of the more famous hotel and casinos that line the Vegas Strip, it is home to one of Vega’s biggest poker rooms.
It inside her room in the New Orleans themed casino where Amy Zing sits on the bed, her legs crossed, her eyes closed, and her breathing rhythmic as she mediates. Despite a lack of common animosity between the four competitors, Amy is still focused on this, still not underestimating anyone in that match.
Slowly, Amy opens her eyes and sits on the edge of the bed.
“In hindsight, I probably should not have picked to stay at the same place I’m about to challenge for a title. It makes it hared to think about anything else other than Raising Hell and the Television Championship match, but they gave us a great deal, so it’s helpful. But it does make it a bit difficult to relax.”
“There is not a great sense of mutual hatred or animosity here. Still, each one of us wants to walk out as the new Television Champion and we all have the chance to make it happen.”
“The Hong Kong Sensation” pauses in through for a moment.
“It still seems silly to me that there would be a Television Championship when UWA does not yet appear on Television last I knew. Although I suppose that naming it something like the Internet Championship or the Online Championship sounds a bit stranger. And if UWA went on television, then they would have to change the name of that championship, so that won’t do at all then. Still it seems rather an odd choice for a title name. I mean the Television Championship I just feel implies that the UWA is on TV, which it is not. It just seems an odd name to me. But what else is there? Something like a United States Championship would be somewhat redundant with a North American Championship in the company. Naming it after a letter seems rather dumb is nothing is going to come of it. And I don’t think this works for a specialty division as the company is already intergender with men and women fighting and a Cruiserweight Championship seems like it would limit people. I don’t think naming it after a country works either. Just seems an odd choice to go with Television Championship.”
Realizing that she has pretty much just been rambling, Amy closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly and then opens her eyes.
“Then again, I suppose we four are the odd bunch of people to attempt to make history by becoming the first Television Champion. I don’t think anyone would have imagined us being the four UWA chose to fight for a title.”
Amy gets to her feet and starts to pace around the room a bit.
“I really do not know how they picked us. Maybe we are the newest people here and UWA figured this would be a good springboard for us. Maybe our names were drawn from a hat. Then again, it could have been a dart board. I don’t know why either. We are not yet the ones they expect to be in the main event, wearing the World Championship or selling out arenas. Either way, here we are.”
“Skylar, you were one first two people I faced when I came to the UWA along with Bethany Kenyon in my debut. It was a tremendous match. I do wish it had gone better than me getting kicked in the face and pinned as that was rather ironic, but it was still a fantastic match to be a part of.”
“You are tough Skylar. I am not going to take anything away from you. We wrestled once, but I was right about you when I said you were a fighter. You gave as good as you got in that match, and in every match I have seen you in. I think we are a lot alike, underestimated, the underdog, and fighting for our dream.”
“I’ve spent a career as the underdog; the one they all assume will crash and burn. Well, I may be the underdog, but I will fight. I may crash and burn, but I will get back up. I believe that while I could be considered a dark horse, I am more than capable of winning this match.”
She stops pacing and turns to the window, moving towards it. This is not her first time in Las Vegas, and, God willing, it will not be her last. Still she looks out of the window like she is seeing the view for the first time. Considering she has never been at this particular hotel and casino, that can be looked at as true.
“While my first encounter with Skylar did not go well, I think it is safe to say that my encounter with J-Shades went better. It’s also probably safe to say that the win was something of an upset. I don’t think anyone saw it coming.”
Amy manages to suppress a smile, not wanting to brag about it as while she is glad to win, she feels given her record, she doesn’t have a lot to brag about.
“But it happened. However, I know that just because I was able to beat him once that it does not automatically mean I will be able to do it a second time. The first time was not easy and I doubt the second time will be any easier. Who knows, maybe he pins me and walks away Television Champion?”
“Or maybe history repeats itself and I manage to do it, beat him a second time and I walk away with the Television Championship. Maybe, just maybe, I can pull off that upset and I can make history. The thing is though that I honestly believe I can pull this off. I believe that I can become Television Champion. However, believing and doing it are two entirely different things. Still, that’s never stopped me before.”
“Bob Brooks, you are the only person in this match I have yet to face and, to be honest, that adds a bit more to this match. I like stepping into the ring with people I have never been up against before. Of course, I also like to step into the ring with people I have faced before again, because I like to see if that match can be better than the last.”
“I could probably make some reference about the picture of me trying to kick your head off, or beating you to become Television Champion or something is worth a thousand words, or that winning the title would be picture perfect, but I kind of feel like that is your thing. Still, I am hoping to give the fans a few reasons to take pictures at Raising Hell.”
“We have never met in the ring Brooks. This is the first time and I know it will not be the last time. What I am going to try and do is make this first memorable. Win, lose or draw, I am going to make sure you know who exactly it was that you were in the ring with Brooks without a camera.”
Amy turns and leans against the window.
“People look at this match and they wonder why the four of us were chosen. I look at this match and I see a perfect time to show why the four of us were chosen to be in this match. I look at this match and I see our time to shine. I see a match that could steal the show and set the bar for the entire night.”
“So very rarely does an opportunity like this happen. Championships come and go, but the chance to become the first is a rare gift. So maybe we are not the best UWA has to offer. That’s fine with me.”
She stands up and closes her eyes, leaning her head back slightly, like she is listening to something.
“Can you feel it? Can you feel that excitement? Can you feel the anticipation? I can. Maybe it’s one of you three, or maybe it’s from someone else, or even the fans, I cannot tell. I can feel it though. Maybe it is coming from me. Again, I don’t know.”
Slowly, Amy opens her eyes.
“We all know what they say about us. I know what they say about me. People have said I am too nice, or that I cannot get the big win, or that I lack passion and desire. You three know what your critics say about you. I say we look at this match for what it is. This is a chance to silence those critics and etch our names into history.”
“The Television Championship and this match seem like that first step, that jumping off point. Maybe we are not the best, or the people that should be here with a chance to do something like this, but over the week I have come to realize why it is us.”
“It has to do with the fact that the UWA is giving us the opportunity to show what we can do, a chance to make history, because for some reason, they like us and they like what we do.”
“It is not about how many wins or how many losses we have. It is not about whether we are a dominating wrestler or if we are terrible at what we do. It has nothing to do with us being the best or the worst in the UWA. It has to do with the face that somehow, someway, we impressed someone just enough that the UWA has faith in us and they are giving us this chance.”
Amy makes a face that can be described as a half-smile, a slightly amused expression on her face.
“Then again I could be totally wrong and our names were picked form a hat or a dart board or something.”
The half-smile on the face of “the Hong Kong Sensation” quickly fades.
“But I do not believe that that is the case. I look at this as the UWA giving us the stage to show the world how great we can truly be. This is our springboard and all we have to do is have the will to jump.”
Amy’s hands ball into fists as she looks up.
“I have the will to jump. They say “the journey or a thousand miles begins with a single step”. This match is that first step. I have no idea where the destination is, but the journey is the more important part.”
“This is a great honor, a great opportunity, and win, lose or draw, I have absolutely every intention of making the most out of it. If I have to go to that ring and try and kick three people’s heads off, then that is exactly what I am going to try and do. Brooks, Skylar and J-Shade, I am going to try and kick your heads off.”
“At Raising Hell, I am going to show the UWA that I am going to make the most of an opportunity they gave me. I am going to show you three and everyone watching why I am simply Amy Zing.”
Amy turns back to the window to take in the view.
“Skylar, J-Shades, Brooks, I wish you all luck and I will see you at Raising Hell.”
The scene fades out as Amy Zing looks out the window, looking towards the horizon, but more likely looking towards Sunday and Raising Hell.
