Inside the locker room after Monday Night Mayhem concludes Amy Zing finishes changing out of her ring gear and into her regular clothes following her loss to Lacey Roberts.
Her long hair is still a bit damp from her post match shower. She finishes slipping her top of and tucks it into her jeans. She runs her fingers through her hair, making sure it is all out of her shirt collar.
After a moment, Amy gathers up her stuff and loads her laundry into a bag. She ties the bag and places it into a rolling travel bag. “The Hong Kong Sensation” then places her boots inside the bag and double checks that she has everything. After making sure, she zips the bag up and places it on the ground. Pulling the handle up, Amy Zing exits the locker room.
Stepping out into the hallway, Amy walks towards the parking area. As she does, Jamie Hensley, UWA’s ring announcer is standing backstage, talking with some of the crew members who are not part the process of taking everything apart. She spots her friend leaving and excuses herself.
She seems better since Aerynn Donnelly’s attack on her. The cut is barely noticeable anymore and the bruises have healed nicely. The black eye is pretty much gone, as is any signs of a concussion.
Jamie: “Hey Amy!”
Amy Zing stops walking and turns around. She smiles as Jamie approaches her and stands her bag up.
Amy: “Oh, hi Jamie. How are you?”
Jamie: “I’m good. How are you doing tonight?”
Amy: “Well, a bit disappointed that I lost. But, it happens. And there is always next time.”
Jamie: “Well that’s true. Oh by the way, I wanted to congratulate you, you must be so excited.”
Amy blinks and looks a little confused by this.
Amy: “Congratulate me? I lost the match. I mean, yeah, it was a pretty good match I thought, but still, it is a little weird to be congratulated on a loss. Unless you mean you are congratulating me on the match itself. And what would I be excited about?”
Jamie: “What? No. Haven’t you seen or heard that Raising Hell was announced?”
Amy: “That the next pay-per-view?”
Jamie: “Yes. How do you not know this?”
Amy: “Jamie, I have been here about two or three months, and I actually have not seen the pay-per-view list for the year.”
Jamie: “Well that’s fair.”
Amy: “Why? Am I on Raising Hell?”
Jamie: “You haven’t heard? ”
“The Hong Kong Sensation” shakes her head.
Amy: “No what?”
Jamie: “You have a match for the Television Championship.”
Jamie: “You’re facing Bob Brooks, Skylar and J-Shades for the UWA Television Championship.”
Amy: “Really?!”
Jamie: “Yeah.”
“The Hong Kong Sensation” jumps a bit, throwing her arm into the air. She lands and hugs Jamie, who huge back. As the break apart, though, Amy appears a little confused.
Amy: “Wait, there’s a Television Championship? Is UWA even on TV?”
Jamie: “Not that I am aware of.”
Amy: “Huh. That seems odd that there would be a Television Championship without a show on TV. And when did Bob Brooks win the championship? I don’t recall that at Searing Agony. Did I miss it?”
Jamie: “What?”
Amy: “Well it can’t be Skylar or J-Shades? I mean I don’t recall Skylar having the title around her waist in that triple threat match I wrestled with her and Bethany Kenyon. J-Shades didn’t have the title belt when I wrestled him. At least I don’t recall him having it, but I know I beat him, so that may have been helpful. I didn’t think he was a champion. I would remember winning a championship in one of my matches. I have only wrestled four matches and none of them were title matches. Still it seems weird that with only one win and three loses that I am even in a title match. My only logical conclusion is that J-Shades is the Television Champion, but I must have missed the match he won it in or I was not paying attention when he entered with the title. Still seems a bit odd.”
Jamie: “Amy, do your breathing thing. You’re sort of rambling there.”
Amy looks a bit embarrassed that she was caught rambling. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly and opens her eyes.
Amy: “Sorry.”
Jamie: “It’s fine.”
Amy: “So when did Bob Brooks win the Television Championship?”
Jamie: “He didn’t.”
Amy: “Then did I miss the other two becoming Television Champion or not notice them holding a title?”
Jamie: “No. This is going to crown a Television Champion.”
Amy: “Wait, this is for that first Television Champion?”
Jamie: “Yeah.”
Amy places her hands on her head, looking excited.
Amy: “That’s huge!”
Jamie: “I know! You have to be so excited.”
Amy: “Yeah.”
“The Hong Kong Sensation” lowers her hands. She does not appear to be excited about this match or the huge opportunity it presents. In fact, she seems to be the opposite of excited. Jamie, seeing her friend’s reaction, looks a little concerned by Amy’s lack of enthusiasm and excitement.
Jamie: “What is it?”
Amy: “Well it’s just, how did I get into this match? I mean really, I’ve got a horrible win/lose record. I am sure there are a lot of wrestlers with better records than I have who should be in this match. Bob Brooks, Skylar, and J-Shades have better records than I do, and they have been here longer. A lot of people have. So, how did I get into this match?”
Jamie: “Are you really going to turn down a match and a chance at a title?”
Amy: “Well no, obviously not. I am just saying that I am surprised that I would be in this match. You’d expect a few other people to be in the match. I’m flattered, but I mean, do I deserve it?”
At that Jamie looks a little surprised to hear. She looks a little upset at the question.
Jamie: “What kind of question is that? Of course you do, Amy. Yeah, maybe you are not winning every match you are in, but the UWA is at least are noticing your efforts and the crowds love you. And how many people do you know go out of their way to do half the appearances and goodwill events you do? It’s like every other week you are either speaking about something or appearing somewhere. Do you hear your reactions? How many other people are out there do you see going over to the crowds and signing autographs and posing for pictures as often as you do? ”
Amy: “Well yeah. I mean, I know my fans like me…”
Jamie: “I would say they love you.”
Amy: “But you would think that a one-three record would actually count against me. I mean this is huge. I am just not sure that I deserve it.”
Jamie places her arm on Amy’s shoulder.
Jamie: “Amy, you are probably the nicest person I know and you are passionate about this business and you love your fans. Of course you do. Those fans want to see you win, and they want you to be a champion again and the UWA clearly has faith in your ability, otherwise they would not give you this shot.”
Amy responds with a half smile, like she is still not totally sure. She places her hand on Jamie’s.
Amy: “Thanks.”
Jamie: “Hey, what are friends for?”
Amy: “You need a ride?”
Jamie: “No, I’m riding with Lula, remember?”
Amy: “Oh yeah. Well I’ll see you later.”
Jamie: “I’ll see you at Raising Hell next week.”
Amy: “Sure.”
The two women half hug each other. Amy picks her rolling suitcase’s handle up and starts to walk away. Jamie walks away, but stops and turns back to Amy.
Jamie: “Hey Amy!”
Amy stops walking. She glances back at Jamie.
Amy: “Yeah?”
Jamie: “Even if you don’t think you deserve it, like you said, win, lose or draw, you are going to show them why you are simply Amy Zing.”
Amy smiles a little, trying not to laugh. She shakes her head.
Amy: “Hey, don’t steal my line.”
Jamie smiles back.
Jamie: “Sorry.”
Amy: “See you at Raising Hell.”
Jamie: “Have a safe trip home.”
Amy: “You too.”
With that, Amy Zing turns and heads for the parking area while Jamie Hensley walks back towards the arena’s backstage area. The scene fades out on the two women walking away from each other.
Her long hair is still a bit damp from her post match shower. She finishes slipping her top of and tucks it into her jeans. She runs her fingers through her hair, making sure it is all out of her shirt collar.
