The woman known as Artemis sits inside the Pleasure Dome enjoying the Sinful Kittens show in all it's usual glory. Licking hr lips, she watches the three women gyrating to the beat, dancing suggestively even as a familiar voice comes from seemingly nowhere.
Voice: Jaaaaackie.... oh, Jaaaaackie... come out and play-ay....
She freezes at the voice then shakes her head. No not even he would be stupid enough to come here looking for her... would he?
Artemis: It’s not him, Jack... you’re just imagining things...
The voice laughs uncontrollably.
Voice: Did you really think you could just walk out the door and go to Vegas and nothing would happen?
Artemis looks around wildly. Where was he? one by one the people around her start to disappear. Like literally poofing away. She pulls her knees in closer to her in the booth seat she's sitting in.
Artemis: It’s just a dream, Jack, it’s just a dream...
Voice: One by one, they all disappear while Jackie pretends she's dreaming. Now look at me as real as can be, say hello to Apollo!
Artemis cowers her head, too scared to look up.
Artemis: You're not real... you're not real!!
Apollo: Do I look fake to you?
Artemis still doesn’t look up. Instead she covers her eyes like child hiding from the monster under the bed.
Artemis: Not real.... it’s not real... Jackie wake up!
Apollo walks up to her.
Apollo: Look at me...
She shakes her head.
Artemis: No... No... No...
Apollo: Bitch, I said look at me when I'm talking to you!
Fear pulses though her, but his tone makes her listen.
Artemis: I'm sorry I....
Apollo: Did i ask you to apologize?
She shakes her head, her head dropping to look at her feet.
Artemis: No sir... you didn’t...
Apollo: Damn right... now, do I look like a bitch?
Artemis: No... you don't...
Apollo nods.
Apollo: Then why'd you fuck me? Don't tell me you didn't because you did the second you walked away without permission... so why'd you fuck me?
Artemis: You scared me... hurt me...
Apollo: You think I hurt you...
Artemis: You beat me... locked me that closet... I couldn’t... not anymore...
Suddenly the PD disappears and they're back "home"
Apollo: You ain't never leaving again!
Artemis's eyes go wide.
Artemis: You can't make me stay!
She starts to run.
The hallway she runs down, somehow leads right back to Apollo.
Apollo: Stupid bitch...
Artemis collides with him and shakes her head backing away fro him.
Artemis: No! This can't be happening!
Suddenly the closet swallows her, Apollo laughing from thee doorway.
Apollo: I told you... you ain't never leaving again!
Suddenly were back in the real world and Artemis wakes up screaming.
Cole sits up next to her.
Cole: Jackie? Jackie.... enhance your calm... enhance your calm... all is well...
Artemis looks around wildly.
Artemis: But it was him, he was here and he...
She shakes her head fear in her blue eyes.
Cole takes her into his arms.
Cole: He?
Artemis: Apollo...
Cole nods, stroking her head lovingly.
Cole: If anxiety necesitates, proof can be shown.
She shakes her head.
Artemis: I don't want to see him again... evr again...
Cole nods.
Cole: Proper arrangements will be enacted.
Artemis: Ok.
She rests her head against her shoulder.
Artemis: I wish the nightmares would stop.
Cole: They will... in time.
Artemis: Until then, you'll be there for when I woke up screaming yeah?
Cole kisses the top of her head.
Cole: I will be wherever you wish me to be.
Artemis: I don't want you to ever leave my side...
Cole: Only if you should wish it.
Artemis: I do.
She squeezes into him tighter, like child to her protector.
Cole nods, holding her close.
Cole: You need never worry about Mister Balent again.
Artemis: Thank you...
She looks down.
Artemis: Is now the part where I ask what you want in return? People don’t do anything for nothing...
Cole: I was udner the impression we no longer required negotiation.
Artemis: Sorry... it’s just what I'm used to.
Cole nods.
Cole: Assisting in the vanquishment of that particular worry is an endeavor I would enjoy.
She cocks her head.
Artemis: Vanquiching... perminantly?
Cole: If you so desire.
Artemis smiles, looking suprised.
Artemis: You would commit such a... devious crime... for little ole me?
Cole: There is nothing I would not do for you.
Artemis smiles.
Artemis: Nothing, huh?
Cole: You wish to test that theory?
Artemis: I live to push boundaries... but at this present point... no, I don't.
She smiles.
Artemis: At this present point, I don’t even want you to move.
Cole: As you wish.
Artemis: Do you still talk to your family? Do they support you in all ways?
Cole: I wish I were able, alas communication is not possible.
Artemis: Why not?
Cole: Life is fleeting...
She looks down.
Artemis: Oh... I'm sorry...
Cole shakes his head.
Cole: Worry not, that information was not readily available to you.
Artemis: The curious side of me wants to ask how but I wouldn’t want you to have to relive it....
Cole nods.
Cole: What of yours? How did you come to be in the employ of Mister Balent in all manner of things?
Artemis: Long story really.. asshole father, mother who didn’t support my dreams. So I fled... I ran to america to pursue my dreams.
She pauses.
Artemis: But as it turns out, photographers are a dime a dozen in New York and I couldn’t make money. I had no other skills, couldn’t cook, couldn’t clean, so I ended up on the streets. That’s where Apollo found me...
Cole: And preyed upon your insecurities both literal and emotional?
Artemis nods.
Cole: Are there additional demons we require planning an interception for?
Artemis: An interception?
Cole nods.
Cole: Are there others... like Apollo?
Artemis: Well my parents were dicks but not like Apollo. Their worst crime was holding me down for the most part... and verbal abuse... my father was an alcoholic and my Mum was bipolar.
Cole: But they are of no worry?
Artemis: I haven't seen nor heard from them in years.
Cole nods grimly.
Cole: So they could be deceased?
Artemis: Entirely possible.
Cole: Did you make any other enemies whilst in the gainful employ of Mister Balent?
Artemis: There were some others in his gang, some rival gangs too.
Cole nods.
Cole: Was there anything required of you that you felt crossed a line?
Artemis: I had to service some of them, others were like Apollo and they were all…
She shakes her head.
Artemis: I hated them.
Cole: They are past tense?
Artemis nods.
Artemis: Cops got to them before I did...
Cole nods slowly, thoughtfully.
Cole: Unfortunate yet realistic.
Artemis: It’s just what happens when you dealing illegal drugs and alcohol. They made moonshine and other things. I only went to them when I couldn’t cope anymore. I hate them for how they treated me, but most of all I hated them for how they made me feel by having to go to them. I didn’t like how I felt when I went to them. The lowest points in my life when I felt I couldn’t cope anymore... the times when I wanted to end my life. I hate that I needed them. But they treated me just like him... like trash.....
Cole: They appear to resemble our next opponents... perhaps that explains your nocturnal voyage into things you'd rather not remember.
Artemis: Likely... Men like them... deserve to hurt!
Cole: They've managed to spread their infection into several of our co-workers and presently run commercial advertisements for their nefarious products.
Artemis: Sick bastards! Dirty filthy assholes...
She shakes her head.
Artemis: Men like them need to be put down. Hell, I'll do it if needs be. Apollo did teach me some worth while things when I was with him. In between the the beatings and the humiliation... I'm pretty good with a gun.
Cole smirks.
Cole: We are afforded the opportunity for punishment.
Artemis: And punishment shall be given. They won’t forget us when we brand there asses so black and blue they can't walk for weeks...
Cole: And when the confrontation has reached its conclusion?
Artemis: We will be standing over them, after cpounting that delisious one... two... three.. laughing at how... scum they are!
Cole smiles and kisses her.
Cole: Is there anything I can attempt to soothe and comfort you, Jackie?
She smirks.
Artemis: I can think of two things... sex and sparring...
Cole: Preference?
Artemis: Well... a good sparring session could lead to good cool down sex...
Cole nods.
Cole: Shall we?
Artemis grins.
Artemis: We shall.
Voice: Jaaaaackie.... oh, Jaaaaackie... come out and play-ay....
She freezes at the voice then shakes her head. No not even he would be stupid enough to come here looking for her... would he?
